It didn't really snow. All we got were flurries. And it still closed all the schools, since the pipes weren't protected from freezing. I had to wear a purple woman's coat that my mom found in a thrift shop because we had no winter clothing. It was quite the traumatic experience. I was 9, so I am not sure if I qualify as an old-timer now, though.

Henrico County just issued a boil water order for ALL Henrico residents...apparently we comingle some water with The City of Richmond...

I take it you have power if you are posting. I assume there's no equipment to clear anything except the hospitals and other emergency routes. At least they can throw down sand on the roads. How long before the stuff melts?

Yes thankfully no issues with power. We don't have sand trucks, Atlanta sent us 5 plows but we're essentially shut down for a couple days until the temps get out of the teens. Absolutely crazy to look at my window and see nothing but snow!

We were in Myrtle beach once when it was snow and ice. Shut down school for a week. No one could deal with the ice.

Southern snow preparedness always strikes me as something that FEMA should stockpile or states should handle via mutual aid. I'd say there's probably a need for a couple hundred pieces of equipment from Tennessee/ north Carolina south every year, but you probably don't have enough likelihood to make it a sensible investment for any locality below Chattanooga.

yea it's been 11 years since the last winter event we had, definitely not cost efficient to invest in any type of snow removal equipment. I'd totally forgotten how fun a snowstorm is - and how dreadful dealing with the snow is the day after. Totally over it lol

My app is now calling for .1 inches Thursday morning. Kind of odd how a prediction of 16 inches just goes away

Accuweather is predicting 90% chance - roughly evenly split - for between 2-4 and 4-8 inches.
