The Weather (2025)
« on: January 02, 2025, 12:53:23 pm »
We might get some snow in the DC area Sunday night. Models haven't converged yet and so there's no consensus, but Capital Weather Gang's last update had around a 60% chance of measurable show with a 30% chance of 4" or more.

It has been a while since we've had a significant snowstorm in this area so might be a good idea to buy all the available bread and TP tonight.

Last night the guy on Channel 5's 10:00 news was projecting four to eight inches for the DC area and a significant amount of ice further south, say roughly south of VA-3.

when they say 8", reality is closer to 6", and when they say 6", reality is closer to 5" or less.

What were we talking about?

Just missed it by a few days. What a shame. We’ll be back later this month.  For the next storm.

Accuweather puts it at 48% chance of 6-10 inches and 46% chance of 3-6 inches, at least for Fairfax, which is in the middle of that band.

are you sure they just aren't using cm instead of inches?

I know a few people who work for the House. They are being put up near the Hill to ensure they are there for the electoral college count.

CWG shows about 6" so far for most of the area with a band of around 7-8" through southern PWC, Culpepper, and around Fredricksburg.

Enjoy the snow people. Going up to 78 today in Orlando.  The breeze makes it a bit chilly though. Need a jacket.

Going to be 30s and windy here the next few mornings. I hope all the snow doesn’t melt and ice up tonight.

When I lived in Miami the old timers still talked about the time it snowed back in the 70s...I'm sure it took forever to shovel out driveways with the little spoons everyone wore around their necks in those days
