I get Davey thinking that putting Ruiz between Garcia and Wood might get him going, and that it has paid off a bit, but it's hard not to hit your best hitter against righties 4th at this point.
Call also probably should be 6th at this point and the DH 7th. Against righties, that's Blankenhorn. It's too easy to bring in a lefty to pitch to 3-6 now with Garcia, Ruiz, Wood, and often Blankenhorn in that stretch. Call faces a righty no matter what, and the righty comes to face Ramirez if Davey pinch hits for Blankenhorn. You've got a better chance of getting a lefty to pitch to Call or a righty to Blankenhorn if you switch Call to 6th and DH to 7th. DH at 7th also breaks up the 3 righty bats 7-8-9.
Call is certainly hot right now. It's kind of amazing because he looked so bad last year that it got to be tough to defend carrying him and he was steps away from being a DFA candidate earlier in the year. I don't expect balls to keep on dropping in, but he's always been capable of working long at bats and playing defense well.
