Newsflash.  Nats will try and score more runs and give up fewer. Stay tuned for the season.

Huh? At least the previous universities seemed overlap regionally with this fanbase.  Are they just gonna stick a curly W on every entity everywhere?

Why not Colorado school of mines, or their sister college, the Colorado school of mimes?
I mean, this is DC

no kidding. Doo made a joke at the start about what strategy he's bringing. "Give up fewer runs than we score."

Davey on new coaches...
Known guys for a while. Cairo mentoredby larussa.parra d and running. Gutierrez for IF d. Mostly emphasizes knows them. Glad for a few more years.likes direction. 24-27 time frame.

Gallo likes Nats style of play. Mentor.

He actually put Gallo and Mentor in the same sentence? Again:

https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-twins-joey-gallo-striking-out-strikeouts-home-runs/600285250/

“"I'm going to strike out a lot," said Gallo, who saw his batting average drop to .182 on Sunday. "That's how it is with me unfortunately.”

It’s one thing to say he’s going to do his thing and hopefully contribute, but to have come up goose eggs on the starter front and quite possibly come up with a negative on the free agent signing front and then try to portray him as a “mentor”?

This set up deserves the same level of “patience“ as the wizards do. This team has shown what it is, complete with the player development shortfalls. Someone elsewhere raised the possibility that there’s not even going to be a sale attempted until the estate tax return would be accepted, which might be another three years.

In the meantime, all of these issues could be met with honesty that shows some level of respect to the fan base that issues — some of the team’s making, some of that just happened the way things fell — are going to mean a priority on development and fan experience that isn’t going to equate to big signings. However, actual strategic sightings of players, even of the Candelerio variety would at least put something other than a patchwork mess that impedes development on the field.

Instead, here’s this letting the market come to us line dragged out of mothballs in late January. Say you have a hard spending limit, even if you don’t want to define exactly why and will leave it to other people to figure that out. If you don’t have permission to say that, where the fans the “mentor” part of it, walk into the ownership committee and shame them into promotions and fan engagement that at least rise to a major league level. You can’t tell me that not having a fan fest or caravan-type thing is a nonstarter until the estate is settled.

Rizzo works for the Lerners and just got a nice contract extension.  He’s not going to out them.  The only hope is that they sell the team.

well, there's a pretty active dukie contingent in DC, so that makes sense . It is more the active alumni clubs that contact the Nats and say they can sell seats. Marketing person pretty much said that.

They are at least in the MASN footprint somewhat; I was looking at Ohio State and FSU

If the Nats are pushing the envelope, then how about a Washington theme night - that's Washington, Tyne & Wear... ;) (well, it was the home of George Washington's great-grandparents,,,)  :D  ;)

Indoor golf coming into area at 1st st

From the map it looked like it was going across the street along the river. But since it is affiliated with the team I assume that it is the area by first base entrance where the big sportsbook was supposed to have been built. I'm not a golfer so it's not for me but they seemed to think that it's a big deal.

Some general impressions:

Thomas mentioned a lot along with CJ. They seem to think that Thomas's development covers one position in the next contender. I did not get the feel this guy is trade bait.

CJ is their star. They think there's more to come, but very pleased with last year.

I was surprised at the Irvin and Rutledge mentions. Perhaps explains their patience on pursuing starting pitching.

no mention of Robles / Young. Feel they expect Crews in CF by end of year.

No mention of Luis Garcia.

Bullpen was not a focus of discussion, but there's a Finnegan bobblehead coming on Star Wars weekend.

In terms of bobbleheads, there's a talking Thomas coming. Again, seems like he's a core guy going forward.

Minors discussion was very general rather than Crews/ Wood / House focus. They just think they are loaded now.

Doo: new role... take data and help guys pull from it. Digestible.

Idea for role started night of retirement party.

The way he described it Doo's job is literally the same as Sigourney Weaver in Galaxy Quest, the computer spits out information and he relays it to the pitchers. It's stupid but that's what he's going to do.

Appreciate the recap. If they’re staying in-house pretty much this offseason, why not try to lock up CJ

Did JCA mention that Doolittle will be in uniform in the dugout every game? Not just a PR job.

In fashion news, the new Revenue Chief wore high waters on stage. No idea about what's in style for 2024 but in 1984 that would have gotten you beaten up at my school.

The woman who announced the promotional items wore a cape. An actual cape. I've never seen one in real life. No idea what she was saying because she was wearing a cape.

I think they are pretty excited about Gore. Getting him through the innings increase and starts into September they think is big. Didn't feel his stuff deteriorated.

When they mentioned scoreboard and LED lighting upgrades, someone yelled “Fix the clock!” Which drew lots of cheers. The guy didn’t know how to respond.

Hopefully the LED lighting will not be the first generation that is blinding bright as can be, but it’s in the newer generations that realize that needs to be adjusted.

They’re being installed by a Korean company called GigaTera, and they’ve installed lighting for the Mariners, Yankees, Cardinals and Rays. I know nothing about stadium LED lighting, but they repeatedly refer to them as “RGBW” lighting.

Here are the walks per inning ratios for our pitchers from last year who were above the MLB average. Weems is on the hot seat.
