Welcome to Harrisburg Yo Yo!
his combined line over his minor league stops since the draft:189 PA, 19 K%, 0 HR, .349 / .423 / .494, .443 BABIP, 156 RC+https://www.fangraphs.com/prospectsThe wRC+ is 13th among prospects on Fangraphs prospect lists. They rate him a 45+ FV, so he just missed their top "100." I would not be surprised if he gets bumped to 50 and makes their top 100 list next year.
An ISO of .145 without any homers.
Its a lot harder to fix an inability to make contact.
I was looking at the Nats top 30 prospects and it has Morales in AA with a projected MLB arrival 2026. He's 22. What's up with that?
Morales was highly ranked prior to the draft and fell way beyond where Eric expected he’d go. His total inability to pull the ball may have something to do with it. Are his inside-out swings a sign he’ll struggle against upper-level velo? Morales checks virtually every other scouting box (frame, power, arm) except for plate discipline.
Hopefully the power comes along, but .349 / .423 / .494 in his first trip through the minors is pretty impressive. He had 49 HRs in 3 seasons at Miami.
I had not heard the point about him being so much an opposite field hitter for power before.
“You want Brady [House] ... as much as possible at third base. [Yohandy] Morales will still play, whether it’s at first base or DHing. When Brady needs a day-off ... YoYo can jump in there [at third base]. It’s a good problem to have.”— VP of Player Development Eddie Longosz to @SamDykstraMiLB on YoYo Morales' playing time
2-3, BB tonight. Average up to .206, 4 game hit streak. 7 for his last 16 (.438)
