I noticed the relatively high K% too. No idea what it was in college. AA will be the real test.

Strike out rate? some of it is his batting eye. He's been taking pitches called strikes that aren't really strikes. He refuses to change for bad umps. Seriously, this was in the recent Post article.

Keith Law speculate that the Nats are considering bringing Crews up this year.

Quote
i don’t see much reason to jump Crews two levels already, although I infer from the move that they’re at least considering having him see the majors this year (otherwise it makes absolutely no sense). If Crews is coming to the majors in 2023, which I could justify from a baseball perspective and also view cynically from a job-preservation perspective, then getting him to Double A now makes that much easier, assuming he produces there, and allows time for an interim assignment to Triple A (which runs another two weeks past other minor-league levels in September). There’s a Peter Principle at work in prospect promotions — you can never actually know if a player is ready for the next level until he goes there, so players get moved up until they fail. Going level by level in a player’s first pro summer minimizes risk with no real loss of upside.

Crews to Harrisburg,
They host Reading this week. Crews is a reason to check those games out.

Nah. I think they finish the year with the Harrisburg as the prospect-heavy team of the future rather than call any of those guys up right away. The only reason to call up Crews is the non-zero possibility that they are thinking of him being on the 2024 team at the start of the year.  There's the RoTY draft bonus they may try to go for.

Have to assume Crews will be in the lineup. Tomorrow night he will match up with Mick Abel the Phillies number one pick from a couple years ago. Has very good stuff but lacks command.

Jersey Shore versus Wilmington should also be good this week. Morales and Pinckney called up by the Nats. Phillies number one pick from 2022 Justin Crawford was called up to High S last week. Carl Crawford’s son.

Good matchup tonight against Abel.  I believe it’s the free minor league game on MLB tv. 6:35.

Grounded out first time up but I missed the first inning. Six up and six down now for the Senators. Unusual outing so far for Abel. No Ks.  But no BBs either.

Topped the ball to 3B. Might have actually gotten a hot but they threw home to get Pineda.

Yea. He does not have the stuff of a MLB pitcher.

I got a kick of them having Lucious Fox sacrifice down three runs.

Won’t be the last time those two face each other.

0-4 last night and 0-2 so far tonight. Made decent contact in his second at bat.

No hits through four for the Senators so far tonight and they didn’t do much last night.
