Tony Bennett (the singer, not the basketball coach) at 96.

Wow. 96 is a damn good run. Think he was active at least until the last couple years.

Sinead O'Connor at 56. I hope her estate doesn't ask the Pope to preside at the funeral.

IIRC she tore up the picture of the Pope to protest the Church covering up allegations of abuse of children.

:(  I grew to like the non-Frey / Henley singers in the Eagles. They were a much more complete band than their image.

Johnny Lujack: great football player for Notre Dame and then the Bears. An ultimate two-way player: QB, DB, and kicker. Three-time Heisman Trophy winner, twice All-pro.

Agree. What a great album. When I first got the album I used to literally get a chill up my spine during one of the guitar riffs at the end of Hotel California.

Every Filipino cover band in just about every bar in Asia will carry the Eagles torch for the next several decades (or centuries).

we took an alaskan cruise a few years ago. The main entertainment was a filipino cover band that was simply incredible.

I haven't been on a cruise in forever but we did them pretty regularly for a while around 10 years ago, and it seemed like nearly every ship was equipped with a Filipino cover band and they were ALWAYS impeccable at precisely imitating the band they were covering.

Apparently Sixto Rodriguez died a couple of days ago, age 81.  I watched "Sugarman" on a plane and was so spellbound I had to watch it again (fortunately it was a long flight).  Rest in power sir.
