Wood/House/Crews.  Three SUPERSTAR ceilings, and I’m still quite high on Abrams as well. I feel GREAT right now. GREAT.
Green is still young and has a chance. See what Mickey Moniak is doing this year for a guy everyone thought was a total bust. Hassell also.

you want to start the "follow the prospect " thread for Crews?
Would be honored. Should I wait until he actually signs? haha

A slight disappointment we didn't get the arm but love landing Crews.

Kids just a great ball player. The reason I thought he was a cut above Langford is his feel for the game. Hes a natural. Some say Langford is a better athlete with better speed. Maybe so but baseball is less about pure physical tools. Those advantages didn't necessarily manifest itself on the bases or in the outfield. Langford didn't even play CF in college, and many analysts question his defensive ability. Crews is a better shot to stay in center but will be a better defender at any of the OF spots. That's not to say Langford isn't good. It's that little bit that made there a break after the top 2(Skenes and Crews) IMO.  Langford is still a great player and top 5 pick, but I definitely prefer Crews.

And Detroit with the first screw up.

Any of the top 5 would have been 1-1 in other years

They may have figured they will not be competitive for a few years so why not take the high school guy who thinks he is Bryce Harper.

I guess not. They still need a catcher.

They need starting pitchers even more.  There's pretty much nothing left in their system pitching-wise except what's already in the majors (which, um, ain't great) and like 2 or 3 guys who very likely end up in the bullpen.

I’m still holding out hope for both, especially Hassell 💯

Why would people write off Green?  He's 19 and it's his first year of full-season ball.

He’ll probably need another year in low A.

Not sure that's really a problem.  He'll be 20 all of next season, which would put him at 21 in high-A, a fairly normal prospect track.  HS draftees are basically doing low minors instead of college.

If he were a college draftee at his slot and struggling in low-A now, I'd absolutely be worried, but that's just not what's going on.

For example, Hassell is 21 right now (22 in August) and not tearing up AA, so he's looking like more AA next year, which also doesn't take him off the prospect radar.  Yeah, they have to do it eventually, but some struggles in the low minors are very common for HS guys.

Ignore it. Last year Brady House’s career was over on this site.

I thought the primary worry with him was health, given the nature of that injury.  But yeah, point taken.

I don’t think it’s a problem. He’s incredibly raw and I think he may need 5 years to develop.

I personally haven't written him off yet. I just wanted Kevin Parada with that pick and still think he ends up being the better pro.

Ah, gotcha, yeah I'm with you there.  I'm really not a fan of HS guys that high ever, unless they're like ARod or Harper types that are on a 2-3 year horizon.  I know that probably makes me a bit of a weenie, but I'm risk averse in pretty much all respects.

House was a big mystery last year because the team was never clear with what was going on.  So we took the worst case and ran with it!
