Fair enough. But seems if you ignored Dollander beginning of season because he was at the top you would have missed out.

Here is one from last September. Skenes was 14. I think he moved up based on what scouts saw on fall preseason workouts. I think the point is scouts for any team would have been looking at him when he was at Air Force. No one here even knew his name last year at this time.

So will I. That's why I am trying to imagine how quickly Crews gets through the minors. Maybe finishes the season with Fredburg and starts next year at Harrisburg and Rochester by June. Arrives in Washington about July 4.

That's hoping, of course. And every time a "draft analyst" mentions Paul Skenes as the best college pitcher since Stephen Strasburg, I wish for Skenes.

eh, f the mocks at this point. We are getting something really good on Sunday. People are trying to play Carnac the Magnificent inferring what's inside the envelope without the humor. Yes, Boras is one "e" and one "s" short of a truthful name, so Pittsburgh is going to either avoid his client or try to look like they want to avoid him for some leverage. If it is Clark to the Pirates, then we have a nice choice. Any of the 3 college kids should make us happy, and more likely any of the two who played in Baton Rouge will be introduced after the all star game.

If it is Crews or Langford, get him signed and in Fredericksburg by the end of the month.

Skenes would be fun but what are the chances he is Gerrit Cole instead of Mark Prior. Or Strasburg. An every day bat is needed and seems less injury risk. Maybe you can get Dollander or another college arm in round 2.

"Mark Prior pitched one game in the minors in 2007, picking up the victory, but it was discovered that he had major structural damage in his right shoulder and was again shut down for the year and released that December."

Sorry I keep messing up the quotes but he left the game due to shoulder problems. He had an achilles injury earlier in his career. I think the debate is over whether Dusty overused him. He says no for the record.

Prior suffered a major shoulder injury after colliding with Marcus Giles in 2003. In 2005 he took a comebacker off his elbow. His shoulder fell apart in 2006 and he never recovered. Surgery found he had massive damage in his shoulder.

That's conjecture. He was dominant after that collision. Here is another theory. Line drive hit his elbow and forced him to alter his motion. I don't think you can say for sure what it was. He pitched a huge amount of innings also at a young age.

In the end I am pretty sure that Dylan Crews will be able to swing a bat 15 years from now about the same as he does now. Not sure of that for any pitcher. I mean Strasburg was great when he pitched but he also missed fairly significant amounts of time over his tenure with the Nats even before the recent problems. His injuries are certainly pitching related.

I saw a comparison between Rendon and crews with regard to bat speed / approach. There’s no guarantee any hitter is hitting 10 years from now. Imho you take the best player and that’s Skenes.

Who’s been more durable: Strasburg or Harper?

Just trade for Skenes in a few years when the Pirates have a fire sale.

I have a weird timeline idea. The Pirates draft Skenes.The Pirates call up Skenes midway through 2024. The Pirates make the wildcard in 2024. The Pirates don't make it passed the Championship round in 2024 but Skenes throws his heart out. Skenes goes to ST in 2025 and blows out his elbow. The Pirates regress and when Skenes returns in 2026, the team is again rounding the drain. In mid 2027, despite sporting a mid 2 ERA, the Pirates are in last place and trade Skenes to the Rays, who now play in Nashville. The Rays win their first franchise WS and Skenes wins the MVP.
