What is Trey Lipcomb now? He is slashing a not bad .288/.346/.398 in AAA, he has started at every IF position, he won defensive awards in 2023, and he has some pedigree from a monster final season at Tennessee where I think he should have beat Dylan Crews for SEC Player of the Year.
He had a rough age 23 start to a major league season. That shouldn't be the end of him. But now I think his 40 man spot may be in jeopardy. They bumped Darren Baker over him, Jose Tena is now in the majors and can move around the IF, Abrams/Garcia are here to stay, and I guess Nasim Nunez is a thing.
Everything other than a less than 200 bat performance Major League debut is good. But it feels like he is done for this franchise. Or am I missing that Baker got the call up because they wanted Lipscomb to keep getting every day at bats?
