Just turned it on and missed Wood’s first at bat. Struck out again. Perhaps he is not fond of Maryland.

First hit of the year. Bloop off the end of his bat which plated a run. Maybe that will get him going.

Watching the Wilmington game was like a trip back to the 1960s with no CF camera. Turned on the Fred Nats game now. They are behind 4-2.

He got an RBI on his second at bat in game one with a bloop hit. So wondering how he got two more RBIs?  Sacrifice flies maybe. His OPS for the three games is .202.

5 Ks in 9 ABs. He could be the new Schwarber.

Judge has a pretty bad K% too...

Ted Williams to Frank Howard, when Ted became manager of the Nats in 1969: "Can you take a pitch?" Howard learned.

Unfortunately the Wilmington game was not on TV. Nice to see Wood come alive.

There’s a very good chance wood finishes the year in AA and starts next year in aaa in line for a mid season promotion next year.

Also, with all of our outfielders (Robles, Thomas, call) in the majors and prospects in the minors (green, wood, hassell, de la Rosa, vaquero, and hopefully crews) I’m wondering if maybe in the AFL this year wood sees some time as a 1B.  With his length and athleticism he could be a stud defensive 1B

Isn't that slotted more for TJ White?  Granted, White is lower end on the prospect scale, but I suspect they try to keep Wood in the OF as long as they can.  They never moved Soto to 1st, and he was less of a defensive prospect. I don't see anyone on the MLB roster as being an impediment to playing Wood in the OF.  Quite likely, if any of the outfielders on the MLB roster are successful (other than Garrett), they will be traded over the next couple of years.

on a contending team, Thomas is a 4th OF, Call, Dickerson, and Garrett are AAAA fodder.  None of them are blocking anyone.

Fred-burg has moved Roismar Quintana to 1B. Wood looks like an OF, even if opening day, 2025 might be early.

Unique talent
:az:  Gore, Abrams and Wood alone for Soto would have been a heck of a haul. And then throw in Hassell and Susuna and it is looking like a steal

It was inarguably a solid deal when viewed through the prism of his remaining service time. You can argue that the Nats should’ve gone for more certitude in terms of the star talent headlining the deal (ie if the Cardinals would’ve been willing to include Walker in a package that was numerically less robust than what we ended up with), but the Nats CLEARLY got a bunch of high ceiling prospects back (and Gore/Abrams were still for all intents and purposes prospects), and they got them in a high enough number that at a minimum you’d expect multiple above average regulars to emerge from the package (with the attendant benefits of myriad years of control).
