I dunno. Prosciutto with some mozzarella, fresh basil, and tomato with a balsamic drizzle is pretty good. I suggest you get that at Capos.

Rizzo with the Junkies today https://x.com/spencernusbaum_/status/1839011015914066395

His interview is fine and is complimentary of Abrams, obviously trying to keep that door open. I appreciate CJ Abrams side not trying wave this away. If he comes back next year and plays well, he can shove it in everyone's face.

His miss is due to his time his 1st year, I think. At the time he was sent down this year, he had  enough time for a full year of service according to reports at the time.

Should make him more valuable in the trade market...

Looking at Vic's success, and others, when they land elsewhere, should tell this tone deaf organization that the coaching staff is failing the players...and the fans...

They're not trading him, but okay

If they’re not signing anyone or note, we won’t be competing this year. If that’s the case, and they believe one of Dickerson or king could move quickly, then why not

IMHO, they are going to give CJ every chance to show he's matured. His ceiling is far too high to cut bait on him now.

But if his 1H looks like last year's 2H, they'll move on. Dickerson and King aren't going to be ready for a while (late 2026, or 2027 probably at the earliest). Tena would be the most likely replacement.

Why would they trade him? You literally can't find a replacement for cheaper. Dickerson or King are at least 2 seasons away. Probably 3 or more.

Quote
Davey Martinez gave a CJ Abrams update. Abrams had an abrupt ending to his season in the final week of September when he was demoted to Triple-A:

"I called him a few times. He's hard to get a hold of. I saw his workouts. He's doing well. Like I said, I love CJ. We have an unbelievable relationship. So I'm looking forward to getting him back."

"As you know, he's going to be our everyday shortstop. He had a great first half, struggled a little bit the second half, but he's going to be just fine. Like I said, he's working. He's working on his swing. He's been working out. He's getting ready to go."

"He's hard to get a hold of."

Uh oh

4 years left on CJs deal.  With king, Dickerson, house, and now hopefully Holliday coming up through the system as MI or 3B and Garcia at 2B, if Abrams repeats his first half from last year, I think we should trade him.

Martinez also said Kieboom was going to be our 3rd baseman in 2020...next thing you know he's out of the Bigs...maybe this time for good...

Martinez is a fool doin' Rizzo's errands...

Maybe he meant, "As [if], you know, he's going to be our everyday shortstop."

So trade him while he has a bunch of control and value would be high. At the deadline he'd be better than any options the mariners, yankees, or giants would have for 2B.  Hell we could even deliver another star for the nl east and trade him to the braves. He's from the ATL burbs.

Why are we trading him if he is hitting?

His value has taken a hit now with the casino issue.  And in the Giants case they have Tyler Fitzgerald, who had an .800+ OPS last year, to play 2B with Adames coming in SS.

I'm a dumb-dumb and misread it - I thought it said 2024 second half.

But I agree: if he's replicating his first half, I don't get why we'd trade him in the first place.

because we're not extending him before he hits free agency as long as the lerners own the team.  I'm hoping by the time Crews, Wood, and guys currently in the minors are up for extensions, we'll have been sold to any other owner.  It's worth losing CJ and gore for new owners. Rizzo will max their trade value if it comes to that.

He's four years away from free agency. He isn't a generational talent like Soto. He's not getting traded for a while unless he busts (pun kind of intended)
