What is the O/U on this game? Anything below 8.5 seems low

well, we have both Luscious and Vic in the order, not to mention Boomstink, so there's limits on how much damage we can do.  Odds of Soto hitting a ball in the air?

Two of Corbin's pitches to Berti caught the top of the box according to the pitch track, but were called balls. Not a good sign, but when you are as ineffective as Corbin has been, I suppose the umpire is unlikely to give you the call.

Maybe the ump is trying to teach Corbin a lesson - dude, you are only effective when you keep your pitches below the belt or off the plate, so I will not call a high strike for you.

How delayed is the MASN broadcast? MLB gameday showed strike 2 before the broadcast even showed Corbin throwing strike 1.

Josh Bell is incredible at the plate this year. Just incredible. He is going to end up with a $100 million contract if he keeps this up with the DH in both leagues.

Tough dilemma for the Nats - trade him and likely get some decent pieces in return, or lock him up as he's only 29 and could be our long-term solution at 1B and DH?

I've wanted to extend him for a while. He isn't going to be so expensive that he blows a budget. And he is the type of guy you have to have should Soto be around. Soto is going to break walk records unless there are serious hitters behind him.

But I expect the Nationals will get deadline offers that may be hard to decline.

Damn good play by Franco to end that inning. He is setting himself up as a stealth budget extension candidate if the bat doesn't fall apart.

Soto has been dogcrap this year. Chasing more, swinging and missing more, etc.

He's young.  It's peer pressure. He just doesn't want the other players saying he's an oddball by being capable of playing baseball well.

Marlins announcers raving about how good Corbin is. The alternative is probably too scary for them.

Corbin has had some very good stretches this year, but then he falls apart.

thinking like this is how we ended up with Mike Rizzo deciding that Alcides Escobar should be our everyday shortstop.

so now Davey sends Corbin out for the 6th and he implodes. He's at 74 pitches.

They've given him one run of support. Team doesn't really deserve to win with this offense. Might as well let him pitch. Whether he or one of our relievers is responsible for us losing 2-1 or 3-1 or whatever doesn't really matter.
