All the top ten picks except #7, Riley Cornelio, have signed, according to The Post:

"That leaves seventh-round pick Riley Cornelio (right-handed pitcher, TCU) as the only unsigned player among the Nationals’ top 10 picks. Late Friday night, Baseball America reported that Green signed for $6.5 million — $2,300 over the slot value for the No. 5 pick. By signing Stehly for $10,000, per reports — well below the slot value of $154,800 — Washington saved money that it could spread to other selections".

Bumping this thread for lack of a better one.

There may be be a lot of Nationals minor leagues cut after this draft and trade deadline. The Nationals went younger than usual in the draft and there's about to be another sell off.

Josh Bell is definitely gone. I could see him bringing back two or three prospects unless someone parts with a high level prospect. If Soto goes, have to think at least three. They'll probably dump some relievers.

Add to the Nationals only having 1 DSL and 1 FCL team, if Soto is trade in addition to Bell, this draft and the deadline are going to lead to some prospects we assumed safe being cut.

I think a few of the recent promotions were clues: some of those guys are on a sink-or-swim ten-game trial at a new level.

And it's not just here: this is a grim time of year to be around minor league teams.  Was at a high-A game the other day at which a dude who'd just gotten bombed walked off the mound and took a long look around like he thought it might be the last ride.

Pretty cool twitter thread by Jacob Turner on what it's like to get drafted: https://twitter.com/TheSuddenWealth/status/1551930374636314629?s=20&t=BxSC7FHKOSHKqP8poV3xMg

Yeah, that is awful. Hope he recovers quick and fully - can't wait to watch him play.

I think that list is fair. Before the trade, I anticipated Green as our top ranked prospect immediately. Highest ceiling in the draft, best tools in our system. This has the big 3 former Pads ahead of him.

Well sure if you don't assume 7 will be busts.

Congrats to Victor for being our top prospect three years in a row.  Luckily we held on to him.

Henry not in the top 10?  Really must be down on his health.

all 10 could be busts, but I'd rather have a stacked list of prospects than what we had a year ago.

I would rather have Trea and Bell and Soto but that was not in the cards.  So yes this list looks much better.  Plus Ruiz and Gray and Gore are already arrived.  So to speak.

We were 47-55 with Trea, Bell, and Soto (and Max) last year before we started blowing up the club. I'd still love to have them too, but with our dearth of prospects, and salary constraints, we weren't going to win with them.

I'm surprised to see Susana so high given where he is.  Agree with the three new guys going ahead of Green on the same logic: they're much closer.  No other big issues here except to point out that inconsistency.

Pretty clear signal that they think he's a reliever.

Closer yes - but all three have very high ceilings themselves. It's a balancing act.

This top 10 seems pretty consistent with what we always see from BA and MLB. I definitely balked at seeing Green 6/7 on certain lists.

Yeah, notice I didn't quibble with him being above Cavalli.  I'm excited to see what the three Padres guys do.  One of the frustrating things about living in AA city that's not the EL is not seeing the Nats' teams as they come through.  (I'm near enough to Sally teams to see Wilmington as long as I'm not afraid of [Northwest Georgia] and near enough AAA to see the Red Wings when they do a rare swing through the South, but AA is a hole.)

I don't mind the clean-up.

Chattanooga.  Trash Pandas are an easy drive from here, though, and their stadium is really nice.  So are Birmingham and Sevierville/Knoxville/"Tennessee", as well as Nashville and the two minor league parks in NW Georgia (Rome and Gwinnett).  It's just Chattanooga's that's an absolute dump - not quite the Pfitz, but what the Pfitz would have been if it was a AA park.  New one was just approved yesterday by the City Council.

I've got family in Pickens County SC. The wife and I have gotten close to pulling the trigger on moving to Hendersonville NC but for some oddly compelling reason, we stay in SouthEast PA.
