It's funny, but they simultaneously have a rep of rushing their top guys and not moving their lower guys.

Am I the only one writing this guy off already? He has a ton of swing and miss and is already missing the majority of a season due to a mysterious back injury.

Yes.  He's 19. Prior to his first IL stint he put up .322/.394/.576 in 16 games with 4 home runs.

A few years ago, I would have given the organization an "abundance of caution" benefit of the doubt. No longer. A super hot prospect going cold then disappearing is pretty concerning.

he got hurt. Until we know if he's healed, it's concerning, but no reason to write him off as a bust. The last report a month ago was that he was supposed to be workign out this winter at the spring training facility.

Seems a bad sign to me that he is not involved in any fall workouts. Which means they want more rest for him which means it’s more serious than they’re any anyone to think. Just IMHO.

And he's young. If he is hurt this bad as a teenage, I'm concerned about him bouncing back. Just bad vibes.

instructional league roster hasn't been announced yet. We'll see if he's on it or not.

Seems like in terms of his life or death status, no news is good news here.

On MLB Pipeline they did a story of each teams top prospect not in the top 100. The Nats choice was Brady House.

Was it because he's not real?

under cover.  DoD is testing a new stealth system for soldiers who carry wood clubs.  House volunteered to test this as part of the Nats partnership with the military.  They did a nice video about it at the SPH event last Saturday. Wore one of those old Michael Morse Beast Mode tee shirts, with Beast crossed out and Stealth written in, I was told.  Of course, when I tried to watch it, I couldn't actually see it because it was in stealth mode and I lacked a security clearance.

At this point, the only Brady House in existence is the one where Tom lives.

Officially moved to 3B.

Quote
According to Mike Rizzo, Brady House has officially been moved to 3B as expected. House was drafted as a shortstop and said in the past he wanted to stick there, but now he’ll be at the hot corner moving forward.

Brady House is completely healthy after missing parts of last season with a back injury.

will believe it when I see him on the field.

A lot of setbacks to be sure, but let's hope this works out and he does become the 3rd baseman of the future.

he's certainly not being blocked by anyone. If Kieboom shows he can hit they'll shift Kieboom to 1st.

they have Abrams, and I guess one or two international signings at the summer league level for down the line.  Plus there's Vargas for the short term as a backup, plus, who knows, Downs is in the system.

House started the 2022 season very hot, slashing .325/.408/.449 with a 141 wRC+ at High-A through April before injuring his back in early May and sitting out a couple of weeks. ... It’s safe to assume he was playing through injury during that return appearance, which could account for the significantly depleted power (his average exit velo was in the 80 mph range). It’s hard to make any assumptions about him based on his shortened 2022 season, but he still looks like the same type of player he’s been historically, assuming the power comes back when he’s fully healthy and that the back issue isn’t a persistent one.

From the chat:
Quote
Mike: Is brady house’s 2022 injury the kinda of thing that can nag a lot down the road? I think it was a back injury

1:15
Tess Taruskin: House is interesting to think about next to Marco Luciano (both back injuries) – is the poor performance because of a temporary injury, or do we think the injury is going to be nagging enough to dampen his overall outlook. We landed on the optimistic side for House, but it’ll be something to watch this year.

All kidding aside, that's a really exciting sign.
