Last night's dinner. This was in the Parade magazine in yesterday's paper. Good stuff. We didn't have Japanese beer with it, mainly because I didn't have any but also because Ms1995hoo prefers wine. Next time I'll make the marinade in the morning just because it takes a while to boil it and then cool it back down, and I might make more of it than the recipe specifies.

Spent five weeks in Tokyo in 1985.  Loved dropping into the Yakitori restaurants.  Sounds delicious.

Happy Birthday. Maybe the Nats will get rained out so you don’t have to get a bad taste in your mouth.

While a Chicago Dog is good, the best hot dog I’ve ever eaten was in Iceland. They fly them into the embassy for National holidays.

Hakarl on a bun

I'm reminded of something attributed to Mickey Mantle:

"I'd have taken better care of myself if I'd known I was gonna live this long".

...or some such thing...

Hakarl on a bun

Hakarl is easily the worst thing I have ever put in my mouth. And I imagine it will never be rivaled. Imagine rotten fish that has soaked in urine for four months.

It is absolutely NOT on this hot dog.

I've only changed planes at Keflavik, never had the pleasure of a local dog.  They are made from some ancient breed of sea monster or griffen or something, no?

Beef and Lamb. When I was there I also ate whale, horse and puffin.

Interesting. In Norway the locals looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about lutefisk. They largely ate pizza

That may be geographic.  My cousins up way north in Vesteralan still eat nasty crap like that but no one in the south or in cities will touch it.  I guess that's a bit like gizzards and chitlens here.

Bird. Like fatty chicken. But not gamey like duck.

The trip to Iceland was the best trip of my life.
