Why is Trea talking about taking Soto out of the game in the 2nd inning? Is a batting title worth that much more than being a team player? Assuming FP thinks that way, does Juan? How about you guys?

The title is important to both Soto and the NATS and this game means nothing.  Give him the title. Agree with FP

Win the game first, records come second.

Decades on, baseball fans still compare unfavorably guys who got their titles by sitting out to guys like Ted Williams. Even in an asterisk of a season, I'd like to think Soto is more of a Ted Williams kind of player.

Alex Johnson over Yaz in 1970.  From wiki:

Quote
Johnson hit the ground running in California, leading the league with a .366 batting average through May. He cooled off as the 1970 season progressed, but still went into the All-star break at .328 to earn selection to the A.L. squad.[13] He remained in the batting title race throughout the season, and went into the final game of the season with batting average which was .002 behind Boston's Carl Yastrzemski. In the last game of the season against the White Sox, Johnson went two-for-three to win the A.L. batting title by 0.0004 over Yastrzemski. He was removed from the game after his third at-bat, to ensure the title.[14]

Would have been Yaz's 4th batting title.

FWIW, the Yankees aren't sitting LeMahieu today (1-1 with a walk so far), though, to be fair, his lead for the AL batting title is pretty much insurmountable at this point.
