There may not be enough data on that

What about when winning the first 2 away?

The visiting team has won the first two games 13 times since 1922.  They went on to win the series 10 times. However, three of the last four times they went on to lose (1996 Braves, 1986 Red Sox, 1985 Cardinals)

The thing I worry about for game 3 is that Sanchez whole strategy of making guys chase will it work on this team.

In a way it's funny that Sanchez is the pivotal guy in both NLCS and WS.  If he's hot again, then it's over and he becomes a legend forever.

This is the point where I’m thankful we aren’t looking at Roark for game three

Smithian ignored the previous Washington MLB World Series. This was posted in yesterday's GDT, post #1520.

Comparative points when a Washington MLB team notched their 2nd World Series win, each season:.

2019 - 23rd October (2nd match, at Houston Astros, 12-3)*
1925 - 10th October (3rd match of World Series, beat Pittsburgh Pirates at Griffith Stadium, 4-3)
1924 - 7th October (4th match, at New York Giants, 7-4)
---
1933  - finished 1-4 vs New York Giants

* The most runs ever scored by a Washington World Series team, and the largest margin of victory.

Don't worry about it. After winning the 1924 World Series, the Washington Senators went up 3 games to 1 in 1925, but lost the next 3 games. So don't get cocky, Nationals, the Pirates won the 1925 Series. (mitlen probably attended Game 7.)

Final UEFL/Statcast/Pitch f/x numbers for #WorldSeries  (#Nationals vs #Astros) Game 2 HP Umpire Doug Eddings: 116/123 Balls + 52/56 Strikes = 168/179 = 93.9%. +5 HOU (Favored Houston over Washington by five pitches). #WASvsHOU

I checked his timeline and it shows May (about the time the Mets swept us).     Hope he's doin' well in the Big Apple.

So any word on if the Astros are gonna sit Alvarez for game 3? I see he has played 66 innings in LF. So would they move Brantley to RF and sit Reddick?

That one seems a little different than the one RDG posted earlier but both of them confirm that the umpire is either bad at his job or that he was trying to help Verlander and the astros get back in the series. Both of those are concerning but the second possibility really bothers me.

Last night I was howling mad about a lot of those blown calls. But looking at it in hindsight, seemed like every blown call against happened when Stras missed the spot Suzuki was targeting. He still ended up throwing a strike, but because of how far Suzuki moved the glove, he wasn't getting crap.

I'd like the ump to be able to do his damn job, missed spot or not, but I don't think he was intentionally throwing bones to the Astros.
