Oh man. My wife and I went to the watch party at Nats Park and we had promised our babysitter (who has a 9-5 day job) that we'd be back home by 11:30.
It's 10:40 PM as the game enters the 7th inning, seemingly bound for extra innings. Things are moving SLOOOOWLY as the Astros exhibit tremendous plate discipline against Strasburg, making him labor in at-bat after at-bat. The crowd got amped up by Strasburg escaping from the 6th inning, but really the life had been taken out of the crowd by the Bregman home run. It only got loud to boo calls by Doug Eddings, who was squeezing Strasburg all night.
Thankfully, just then the Nats offense and the Astros defense bail me out. We stay through the Zimmerman infield hit when we feel it's safe to go home. Arrive home to relieve the babysitter of duty at 11:26 PM. Turn on the TV just in time to see Eaton make it 10-2.
Lost in all of this scoring is the fact that Rodney and Rainey faced the Astros and gave up 0 runs.
