After turning down $300 mil, when Harper comes crawling back I'd offer him 80% of that deal.
Look, I'll give you that Michigan fans expect too much some times. But almost all college football fanbases are delusional. At least Michigan and ND have won championships in our lifetimes to justify that delusion. Look at any SEC fan base other than Vanderbilt for instance.
I'd tell him to go pound sand...
Offer is off the table. Rizzo on 106.7 yesterday was using his name in the past tense. The Nats have moved on. A $300M contract for Bryce is not in their plans.
This article has a much different take on what Rizzo said https://www.federalbaseball.com/2018/11/29/18118169/washington-nationals-gm-mike-rizzo-not-ruled-out-possibility-of-bryce-harper-returning-to-d-c
I'm still going with "Anywhere but DC"...
I'd offer him the same total, but over 2 more years- that way he can say they offered me a $300 million deal and I accepted a $300 million deal and save face
So with the deal for Cano, are the Mets out of the Bryce bidding ?
Nationals — I am surprised how many executives and agents I speak to feel Harper still ends up back here (and Machado in Philadelphia). Whether it was done for public relations to suggest effort or for real, the Nationals’ reported $300 million offer to Harper in late September felt like a last effort to keep a homegrown star.
Bob Nightengale@BNightengaleThe #Phillies say they’re still interested in signing Manny Machado to play third, as well as Bryce Harper in the outfield and Patrick Corbin on the mound. Hey, it’s only money, right?11:05 PM · Dec 2, 2018 · Twitter for iPhone
Joel Sherman:On the other hand:
Well, Bob Nightengale is the one who tweeted a month ago that we can "bank on it" that Bryce will sign with the Phillies. Don't know if he's trying to save face. In the last few days, both Buster Olney and Joel Sherman say that most execs they've spoken with believe Bryce will stay and Machado will sign with the Phillies.
Can you imagine those two cancers on the same team?At least they can compete for the longest HR or who has the better hair.
When did Bryce become a cancer?
