Would've rather spent the extra $5M and gotten Murphy at 2B.

Eh, I’d prefer a second baseman that can still play second base.

The Rockies overpaid for Murphy.  In a short (post season) series he can often perform adequately.  But over the course of a full season, he's a major liability out there.  Don't forget that he's a dreadful base runner.  If the Rockies are smart, they'll move Desmond to second base and play Murphy at first base.

The right side of that infield is gonna be so bad

If Story gets hurt, does Desi move back over to SS?

Rocks will play Murph at 1B and Des in the OF.  It's a good fit for both parties.  Murph didn't have a fit here with Zim here.  Murphy could put up some great numbers in Coors with that lineup around him.

I mean, Murphy can play first for the 100 games Zim will miss

I would have thought Murphy would have done better in the AL.

I think he likes playing in the field, not sure he was too keen on being a dh.

Murphy would have been thrilled to go to the American league.  He's never been associated with any particular team.  He goes where the money is.   Having said that, if he gets into the HOF, it will be as a Met :)

Anyone have an up-to-date figure on our salary relative to the cap, including that bogus funny money for the "incidentals?"

CBA dollars or real world dollars?

EDIT:

Real world dollars according to Cots plus what we know about Sanchez's deal - $190,488,895
CBA dollars according to Cots plus what we know about Sanchez's deal - $192,322,709

CBA wise, the Nats are $13,677,291 under the cap.

With Oakland getting Profar, let's just sign Lowrie.

I'll be watching what the Padres have to give up for Stroman. I have always thought he'd be a great cultural fit with the Nats.

You mean that he can use Eaton's booster seat when he's on the DL?

WP reports nats are still interested in Dozier and Wade Miley.

No, because he is black and might bring a few more fans to the park.

You think more black people are going to come out to watch Marcus Stroman pitch?  Come on, Man.

Miley for the right price perhaps, but I'm not a Dozier fan. Yes he has power, but strikes out way too much and hits for a mediocre avg. The last thing this lineup needs is another high K, low avg rally killer. At 2B I'd much rather go for Lowrie.

Dozier is washed up.

Miley can contribute a little.
