Think that qualifies him as a "Nats killer." Anyone who plays regularly with better stats against us?

Not that I could find. Freeman isn't even that good versus the Nats.

Problem is that 2017 looks like the aberrational year.  But still, just the 2018 level is still pretty good stuff if he can field 2d.

Yeah, I just worry that the Dodgers will expect any team to pay for the defensive versatility that the Nats might not use.

They'd probably want at least one of garcia/denaburg + a Fedde/Ross/Taylor/difo piece or two

Imagine Whit and Turner 1-2 in our lineup and on the basepaths. Wow.

I'd do Taylor, Fedde and Carter Kieboom all day for him.

The Washington #Nats still want to acquire an everyday second baseman with former #Rockies All-Star D.J. LeMahieu their first choice in a crowded free-agent market.

Should the Nats be interested in Troy Tulowitzki (released today by Blue Jays, who owe him $38M). He'll only command a $500,000-$600,000 salary on the open market. He says he'd like to play in the Bay area but ...

Okay, but who plays the other 130 games he'll miss due to injury?

If Tulo hit LH maybe, but otherwise, no.

Yeah. I mean we would be crazy to add an All Star 2B and gold Glover with a career. 297 batting average.

Will be 31 next year
Career .264/.311/.362 hitter away from Coors
Coming off the worst year of his career.

Hard pass on anything other than a one year, prove it deal.

Doesn’t seem like an upgrade over Difo, but he’s just a placeholder until Kieboom is up.  If we add him though that might send difo back to Fresno

1. We don't know if Keiboom can actually play at this level
2. Keiboom may actually be Rendon's replacement
3. I'm really hesitant to give a guy a multi-year deal if I plan on replacing him halfway or less through that deal.
4. I think we should ease up on spending so we have space for the trade deadline. I think we know we're going to have at least one major injury, and it would be nice to have some flexibility to add a guy at the deadline.

According to MLB.com's Jon Morosi, the Tigers, Brewers, Athletics, and Nationals are among the teams showing interest in free agent Ian Kinsler.

There is a robust market for second basemen this winter and it will probably take a little while for it to settle. Morosi notes that the "destinations of [DJ] LeMahieu and [Jed] Lowrie may determine where Kinsler signs." The 36-year-old batted .240/.301/.380 with 14 home runs and 16 stolen bases in 128 games this past season between the Angels and Red Sox.

There is no way there is a robust market for Ian Kinsler

Would be terrible to waste a dime on Kinsler.

This to me is still the best trading partner for the Nationals. Go get Taylor. See what it would take to get another of their SPs. They can move Belligner to first, Muncy to second, and pay Harper. Or they could trade for Jose Martinez.

Nats get a good 2B at a good price, and not give up any near future players. That is particularly useful come the deadline when you will want to add payroll if we're in it.

Why trade prospects for Taylor when we can get LeMathieu or Gonzalez for free?

Plus, LeMathieu and Gonzlalez COMBINED struck out only 20 more times than Taylor and his 178 KO's last year.

Because Taylor is cheaper and probably better.

Boras has been ridiculous in the past, but his antics are like conversing with someone with a serious mental illness. The free agent landscape has changed and Boras refuses to. He is getting to Chris Russo levels of confusing drivel.

Eventually he’ll have a high profile embarrassment (the Stephen Drew debacle with a bigger name client)

If he ends up with less than $300 million, that has to be the end of Boras’s credibility as an agent

His job isn't to sound reasonable.  His job is to draw attention to his clients and get them paid.  He's done that better than anybody else, thus why he's at the top.
