Not that I could find. Freeman isn't even that good versus the Nats.

Problem is that 2017 looks like the aberrational year.  But still, just the 2018 level is still pretty good stuff if he can field 2d.

Yeah, I just worry that the Dodgers will expect any team to pay for the defensive versatility that the Nats might not use.

1. We don't know if Keiboom can actually play at this level
2. Keiboom may actually be Rendon's replacement
3. I'm really hesitant to give a guy a multi-year deal if I plan on replacing him halfway or less through that deal.
4. I think we should ease up on spending so we have space for the trade deadline. I think we know we're going to have at least one major injury, and it would be nice to have some flexibility to add a guy at the deadline.

There is a robust market for second basemen this winter and it will probably take a little while for it to settle. Morosi notes that the "destinations of [DJ] LeMahieu and [Jed] Lowrie may determine where Kinsler signs." The 36-year-old batted .240/.301/.380 with 14 home runs and 16 stolen bases in 128 games this past season between the Angels and Red Sox.

There is no way there is a robust market for Ian Kinsler

This to me is still the best trading partner for the Nationals. Go get Taylor. See what it would take to get another of their SPs. They can move Belligner to first, Muncy to second, and pay Harper. Or they could trade for Jose Martinez. 

Nats get a good 2B at a good price, and not give up any near future players. That is particularly useful come the deadline when you will want to add payroll if we're in it.

Why trade prospects for Taylor when we can get LeMathieu or Gonzalez for free?

Plus, LeMathieu and Gonzlalez COMBINED struck out only 20 more times than Taylor and his 178 KO's last year.

His job isn't to sound reasonable.  His job is to draw attention to his clients and get them paid.  He's done that better than anybody else, thus why he's at the top.
