Took the car to the shop and stopped on the way home to vote.     Vote early.    Vote often.

It's a W. PA tradition as well.    One of the local "get out the vote" folks stopped by the house.   After the spiel, I asked if they were gonna give me $20 to vote for their candidate.     They looked at me askew.    So I followed up with, "How about a Thanksgiving turkey?"     They were young.    They thought I was joking.

I'll pass on Dozier. No thanks.

So I only post this here as a mechanism for discussion about Kluber, Carrasco, and Paxton. Obviously, all three would be improvements over what we have. I don't see the Yankees having a whole lot of juice to trade for anyone besides Kluber. Florial nice, but far more toolsy than established ability. I don't see them parting with Shefield. Beyond that, they don't have a whole lot of top level talent.

Carrasco is probably the safest bet out of all three of those, but Paxton may be the best, if not for his injuries.

I'd take Dozier for one year.

Trade either kieboom or Garcia along with Robles for Kluber

You dont give upRobles for less than Snell or deGrom

Also, Dozier isn't taking a one year deal.

Yeah I'm only trading Robles for a stud position player or a younger-ish pitcher with team control.

Mariners basically having a fire sale. I wonder what the price on Segura would be

Man a middle infield of Segura and Turner would be fantastic. We'd also have arguably the best base stealing team in the league. Those two along with Taylor and a healthy Eaton. I like it.

Fixed. I think the team has to trade Taylor if he's not going to be an everyday starter. He was, effectively, a bench player last year and he struggled.

NatsGM looks at what we could do to bolster the offense:
http://natsgm.com/2018/11/07/the-natsgm-washington-nationals-2018-2019-offseason-manifesto-part-2-the-bats/

In a nutshell: Sign Harper, trade Eaton for Yan Gomes, and sign Lucas Duda as the 1B/LHB spot.  That pencils in Kendrick as our 2B, which doesn't seem realistic, but he argues that Kendrick and Difo could cover the position until Kieboom arrives sometime next year.

The Washington #Nats say that their $300 million offer to Bryce Harper is no longer on the table although it doesn’t preclude talks from resuming before they make financial outlay for others.

Honestly, Eaton is worth more than one year of Yan Gomes, particularly if you can get him for the full year. I'd rather see Eaton included as part of a package to get Gomes and one of the Indians' pitchers.

I agree on MAT. Time to trade him.

Segura and Duda would be cool additions.

The only issue is that we have to find a team that values MAT as a potential starting CF, because they know as well that he's not productive as a 4th OF type.

I don't think we're in a position of strength to make demands about Michael A. Taylor.    Other teams know he won't play.    He'll simply clog up the system here.     We'll be lucky to get a bucket of balls.

Yea, I wouldn't expect any sort of "haul."  He'd almost be a non-tender canddiate, but we probably can at least get some middling prospect for him or maybe a backup catcher or middle relief bullpen arm.

he's a poor man's JBJ.  Similar averages and ISOs by age, great gloves, will steal.  Bradley is better, but if MAT had the same playing time, I would think he'd be similar in counting stats.

I think Taylor in a package for Segura would be a good fit. The Mariners needed a CF so bad, the pushed Dee Gordon into the roll.

Heck, I might be willing to do Taylor for Dee Gordon straight up

If we can't get anything decent in return, then he's just going to have to be a super defensive replacement, pinch runner, and insurance policy.

Japanese left-hander Yusei Kikuchi is likely to be posted toward the end of November.

Kikuchi will travel to the United States next week for a physical, and then the posting process will begin a couple weeks later. Under the new rules, his former team in Japan, the Seibu Lions, will get a posting fee that is determined by the value of the MLB contract Kikuchi winds up signing. The 27-year-old southpaw should draw offers from a range of different clubs after registering a 3.08 ERA and 153/45 K/BB ratio over 163 2/3 innings in the Pacific League in 2018. He put up an even better 1.97 ERA and 217/49 K/BB ratio over 187 2/3 innings in 2017.

I wonder if we would be interested. Adding him and Dallas Keuchel would be fantastic.

Trade for Jean Segura and Yan Gomes. Game, set, match.
