guess that means no Herrera or Holland next year.

Was anybody impressed with Herrera last season? I sure wasn't. He got hit often, and hard.

I don’t know who he is.

Maybe Drew Storen?

So this means we aren't rebuilding:

Eh, they dont show we're competing for the division either.

Kintzler exercised his option. Cubs stuck with him in 2019.

So who’s going to close 2021?
Actually meant to say 2020.

Ok. I thought he was a free agent after next year.

Sean Doolittle
Trevor Rosenthal
Kyle Barraclough
Matt Grace
Justin Miller
Wander Suero
Koda Glover

That's not too bad.

It's not, on paper. Let's see how it all plays out.

Any chance we retain Holland or Herrera? They might come cheap on short deals.

Hard pass on Koda Glover.

Please convert Rodriguez to a reliever.

there's room for one more long guy / multi-inning reliever, so I could see Rodriguez or Grace in that role.

Eh, they dont show we're competing for the division either.

Wrong.

With or without Harper, the Nationals can contend. The idea of them blowing it up was always silly. Far too much talent remains, and on Wednesday, the club has made a notable addition. The Nationals signed a free agent. Not a new free agent, but rather, a preexisting free agent. Trevor Rosenthal spent the 2018 season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. Now he’s the newest member of the Nationals’ bullpen. A bullpen they hope can lead them back to October.

If you make Grace the long reliever, you need another lefty.

I know he's cheap and controlled, but I wouldn't mind upgrading over Miller.

I agree.  I think you sell high on Miller. He struggled the second half.

or Miller is the long guy.  I would like to see the 8th slot go to another lefty, but it isn't critical.  I'd rather see big talent than a loogy.

I agree. I wonder if they'll make a run at someone like Andrew Miller and take the gamble that he bounces back after his injury riddled season last year.

The perfect longman for the pen would be Jeremy Hellickson. He could act as the 6th starter too when Strasburg makes his yearly trip to the DL.

Justin Miller
Wander Suero
Jeremy Hellickson

Jhonantan Solano clears waivers and elects free agency rather than reporting to Fresno, another spot open on our 40 man now.
