We have Howie...we don't need another second baseman...

We have a loaded outfield...even without Royce...

We need pitchers and catchers...

Howie wont last an entire season. And hes also the backup first baseman

I'd be ok with:

1. Robles
2. Eaton (switching them against R/L)
3. Soto
4. Rendon
5. Grandal
6. Turner
7. Zimmerman
8. Dozier

He’s not going to be able to play 2B in a regular basis. Unless you want another 2018 Murphy.

You let Difo get a game or two a week...

Not like this team is likely to go to the NLCS no matter who they play...or where...

well, if you keep Difo and another backup MI (Sanchez?), then you can liberally use  a defensive sub for him.

Agree with this! If we could get Realmuto we'd fill two needs with that one move (add a clutch bat and get good defense at Catcher). Spend whatever's left on pitching.

Fixed it for ya.

Also, 3B to 1B is a fairly easy conversion.  It's guys who aren't used to fielding grounders and short-hopped throws that you worry about.

I think Difo would have to be the starter most nights. Maybe Howie can play 2B once a week and LF occasionally.  I suspect he will be on the DL to start the season.

Difo is not a starting-caliber 2b on a team gunning for a WS.  Dozier for a year buys time for Kieboom.

If Dozier hits like he did last year he is Difo. I think most teams will look his prior year stats and figure he can bounce back. But that means he will get more than a one year contract. He is 31.

I think if you get a good hitting catcher you can get buy at 2B with Difo. Has anyone thought of Asdrubel Cabrera as a back up. He can fill in at any IF position. Of course defensively plays none of them well.

He hit 23 homers last year and at least two teams thought he could still play a middle IF position.  That doesn't sound like a backup role next season.

He’s a couple years older than Dozier. Do you think he could be an every day 2B?

Won’t he cost much more?  They really need a catcher and starting pitcher.

Marcus “braun” Stroman anyone?

http://natsgm.com/2018/11/05/washington-nationals-2018-2019-offseason-manifesto-part-1-pitching/

that is a turd bullpen. man. one dependable reliever!

grace is a good middle guy but Miller, Suero are not sure things and Rosenthal is 100% banking on pre-injury return to success.

i do agree that fedde needs to be the long guy, "opener," multi-inning guy. he can go through a lineup once. we need a guy like him.

Dozier is a very nice guy to target as a bounce-back value on a short-term deal.  I think he'd be willing to do a 1-year deal to try and regain his value.  He's a high-character guy who would be a great addition to the clubhouse.  The agent I intern with reps him, so I'm familar with Dozier.  Kieboom could then be groomed without being rushed.

Grandal is my top choice for a catcher.  I don't like the idea of giving up what the Fish will want for Realmuto, or taking the chance on Ramos staying healthy.  Grandal is perfect.

My bold prediction last year was that we would trade for Stroman at the deadline. Maybe I was just a bit off on timing?

Not on a good team, but it doesn't matter what I think.  I'd be surprised if some team with multiple IF holes or a particularly RH-heavy lineup wouldn't take a chance on him as a starter.  There's also the chance of pure stupidity - I mean, AJ Preller has a job, so it's not like incompetence is an absolute barrier to being a major league GM.

It's impossible to keep up with this thread.  I have no idea whom you're talking about.

Dozier's another one who was probably juiced a couple of years ago.
