https://mobile.twitter.com/MarcCarig/status/1050798562513174531Sounds like Sonny Gray is on the market. Question is, what is he worth?
gray would be worth something like Fedde, Taylor, Severino --No more----but i'd do that
doubt it even takes that much. i say a low level arm like Sterling Sharp or Brigham Hill, Jefry Rodriguez and Daniel Johnson.
we trade Jefry, and watch some team turn him into Dellin Betances. But yes, he's tradeable.
Eaton could be key to getting a young cheap pitcher from a cost minded team like Tampa or Oakland
How many more Max Muncy's are "out there," just waiting to explode on the scene? How come WE never find one?
We got a couple of years out of Jesus Flores on Rule 5. Mike Morse was also a "where did that come from" guy who could not play in Seattle.
Rhys Hoskins isn't a great athlete?
Great athletes don't necessarily make great defenders. Frank Howard would have to be seen as a great athlete because he was an All-American college basketball player (drafted by Phila in the NBA) in addition to still being seen as one of the greatest sluggers in MLB history. And, he also likely could have been a great football player as well at Ohio State! Yet, he really had no position in baseball that he could play at more than a very average level.
Sonnt Gray is an awesome buy low candidate, and the Yankees have already lowered the price by admitting they want to move him. His stuff was as good as always last year, he just had a inflated ERA at Yankee Stadium thanks to a barrage of homers. Away from Yankee Stadium he was still very good. I'm sure there will be plenty of suitors for his services, but I'd love to add him to the rotation. I'm not sure what trade chips we have that would interest the Yankees.
