No but it sounds all scientific and high tech so who wants to be called a denier?

It makes the between innings cigars taste better, leading to better pitch control.

After todays game I really am not optimistic about Fedde , Voth , Mc Gowin, Collins and Codero. They had one chance to leave a favorable impression and crapt the bed. You may add Glover , Solis and Williams if you like. If Rizzo is not making wholesale acquisitions we will find ourselves repeating this year.

After watching the game tonight, should we consider Freeland?

How about now?

I was in favor of him a while ago... that’s what I was saying with that post.

Get Sonny Gray IMO.
I am with this I think we can get Corbin, Gray, LaMahieu and Lucroy for our Harper money.

He's not even arbitration-eligible, and he's a Denver native drafted by the Rockies. He'll be a Rocky for life unless he completely implodes before his free agency.

What are we giving up to get Gray?

Rockies wouldn't give him up. Dude can pitch well at Coors. That's probably more valuable than Mike Trout

The Yankees are pretty much done with Gray and he's done with them. You can tell it's a bad fit at this point and it's pretty much an open secret he'll be moved. I'm not sure his value is super-high but I think they'd be interested in some of our lower-level high-ceiling prospects. Hard to say.

LeMahieu was horrible away from Coors this year.  .229 / .277 / .422, there have to be better options.

Does using a humidor have an affect on velocity?
It increases the weight (by nearly 20 percent in a zero humidity environment) so yes, I would assume it slows it down.

This!! he is hated by the fanbase and had 1 1/2 bad seasons. we have alot of pitching drafted that we can swing for him in low A.

You'd get him in his contract year, too. Plus the NL bump.

We need 2 starters. JA Happ and Sonny Gray would be ideal. Joe Ross, Erik Fedde and Austin Voth can compete for the 5th spot.

One or two bullpen arms. Thankfully there are tonnes available. Sign Familia and re-sign Holland. Either guy can close when Doolittle takes his yearly visit to the DL.

A veteran 2B is needed. We have Trae Turner and Carter Kieboom as the future middle infield. Brian Dozier would be a nice signing. His batting average is concerning but he would add some pop to the middle of our lineup. Him and Howie can split time and then Kieboom can take over in a year.

Bring back Wilson Ramos on a 2 year deal.

Roark, Difo and Eaton (If we re-sign Harper) are all trade candidates.

Kendrick is, from the meager reporting we get to see, doing well.

Losing him last year was a tough blow. He's been great for Nats and I am hoping he's good to go come spring time.

Should the Nats not focus on starters and attempt to go Brewers and Yankees style and try to build a Super Bullpen?

Bring back Holland and Herrera and pick two of Britton, Robertson, Kimbrel, Ottavino, or Miller. I have no idea if this feasible from a salary perspective.

We need starters to win the division. But if you simply convert Rodriguez and Fedde to relievers, you'd have plenty of right handed options

That doesnt sound feasible unless you dont address any other needs

In a complete vacuum:

Nats sign Patrick Corbin for 5/100M
Nats sign Greg Holland for 3/30M
Nats sign Kelvin Herrera for 4/40M
Nats trade Carter Kieboom, Koda Glover, Pedro Severino, Wil Crowe, and Daniel Johnson to the Marlins for J.T. Realmuto and Starlin Castro taking on all of Castro's remaining salary

Rotation - Scherzer, Strasburg, Corbin, Ross, Roark
Bullpen - Doolittle, Holland, Herrera, Barraclough, Miller, Grace, Suero

C - Realmuto
1B - Zim
2B - Castro
3B - Rendon
SS - Turner
LF - Soto
CF - Robles
RF - Eaton

Bench - S. Kieboom, Taylor, Kendrick, Difo, Stevenson

Estimated OD payroll of 208M (assumes MLBTR arb projections and AAV for newly signed pitchers) and likely under the CBT threshold.

So they don’t sign Rendon long term and just let him walk at the end of 2019? If he gets an extension it will be before the season.

I think they sign him to an extension, but it doesn't affect next year's payroll. A Rendon extension and a Non-Tender to Solis is also what I expect this offseason.

That's an interesting offseason outline and more aggressive than I think we usually are. I'm not sure I like trading for Realmuto because our farm system sucks ass and a total lack of depth killed us this season. But I'm intrigued.

Wouldn’t they likely buy out that arbitration year if they were going to sign an extension in the offseason? And wouldn’t the cap number become the average yearly value of the whole contract?

That’s what I assume and what I meant. Not sure how much he would make this year without a longer term deal. Maybe $18 million?

MLBTR gives his arb estimate at 17.6M and I think an extension would likely be a payout of 20M+ a year.
