Burned a couple strikes trying to move the runner to third?  Why?  Tying it up int the top of the sixth is important to Dave?

watching the game via mlb.com, that pitch was about as center of the plate as possible.  Nice job by Stevenson.

Yep, genius strategy.  Let's give up an out to move a runner along who's already in scoring position.  Guarantee the run expectancy matrix would say "no" but I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

Burned a couple strikes to get there though with the bunt on.  So Dave is treating MAT like the uncoordinated kid whose mom is making him play little league?

I'm so happy Gio is in the rotation.  We'd be toast if we didn't have a lefty

At this point that is what he has become. And against this team you need to put the ball in play and give them a chance to commit an error. Striking out robs them of that chance.

yep.  He's a home run / strike out guy, not a ground ball guy, so in that situation bunting makes sense.

Somehow building your offense around "playing for the error" strikes me as a low probability strategy.

Why is Gio still in this game?
Gio giveth, and Gio taketh away.
Bad Gio.  Bad bad Gio.
Fark you Gio
Honestly.  With Gio it's not a matter of if the meltdown occurs, it's when.  Gio and davey are responsible for this loss.  Thankfully it's a meaningless game.

Pitchers           IP    H  R   ER   BB   SO   HR   Pitch Count-Strikes
Gio Gonzalez   5.0   6   6     6       3       6      1        98-56
