I just don't understand how DM lets Gio give up 5,6,7 runs every start .     Just crazy???????

His last game was good, 7.0 IP 1ER against the Mets but he got no run support. Guess tonight is the equalizer.

He's had an interesting August, for sure.  Six starts.  Two of them were 7 inning, 1 ER jobs, including one against the Braves when it still mattered.

The other 4, including tonight, he's given up 5, 5, 6, and 8 earned.  Over the last 2 months, the Nats are 2-8 in his games, with tonight looking likely for number 9.  Over the last 3 months, he's given up 58 ER in 80.1 innings - that's a 6.50 ERA.

This is a very oddly managed game.  Phillies are putting themselves in a spot where they could be using a position player in a save situation in the ninth. And for no real reason
