I started keeping random notes during the game because there was so much worth talking about.
1) Key early money was the Sandy Leon K on a Max wild pitch. Bradley, the next batter, is horrible. Probably not pitcher-bad, but it set up the IBB and Porcello's chance.
2) Before the 4th, Tom Goodwin, Sox 1st base coach, did not go straight to the 1st base coaching box. Instead, he stood near the dugout looking up to the area behind the high price seats where the service members are, waiting through the wave your caps bit before the announcer calls attention to the service members and asks they be recognized. Goodwin then applauded them and waited to go to the coaches box until the scene was done. He was specifically waiting for the bit. I forget if Goodwin coached in the NL recently, but he was aware that it was going to happen.
3) Absolute idiocy for Murphy to test Mookie's arm going to 3d when the team was down 3 runs. It would have been dumb if he was running normally. A key runner wiped out when he was in scoring position.
4) For a 2 inning stretch in the 2d and 3d, Max had no clue where his ball was going.
5) Had a beer with Tomterp
6) found myself rooting for the NYY for the first time since the '01 world series. I figured the best two results would be to neutralize the two series (no impact on standings).
7) I did golf clap Rendon's homer and say "boom" on Harper's.
8 ) Max's 1000K drew bipartisan cheers. I was not alone in the whole dual loyalty thing. While wore a Sox cap and my Pedro HOF tee shirt, I did see a lot of folks with dual logo stuff. Sat next to a woman with a 20 game package who decided to wear all Nats but was from the Brockton area (I shocked her when she said the town and I knew her high school right away.9) I thought Cora went dangerously close to pushing Porcello too far. Third time through the order, letting him face Rendon, etc...
10) Davey got a good inning out of TIMMEH! setting him up to pitch to a stack of lefties. Kintzler, OTOH, what can you say

For me, it got to the point where I spent a lot of time rooting for good plays from my favorites (Betts / Bogaerts / Benintendi, etc... but also Rendon, Soto, TIMMEH! etc...).
