Mark Reynolds

Multiple homer game

Between Caps and being busy, I didn't even know Mark Reynolds was a Nats until tonight when I checked Nats box score a couple innings in

From 2008 - 2010, Mark Reynolds led the National League in strikeouts three years in a row.

In 2011, as an Oriole, Reynolds led the American League in strikeouts.

Bet Colorado is happy they have Ean Desmond to fill the void this year...

I am not sure how Reynolds fits when Zim gets healthy ( :smh: ) but in meantime he is a heck of a midseason signing. We need right handed hitting in the worst way and when you have a few guys hurt you can handle someone like Mark Reynolds striking out a lot between homers.

He, Adams, and Harp are a lot of power in the heart of the order.

The RZ boobirds now have a reason to complain again when RZ comes back.  There will be some good ole teamwork as different players start on different days.

With Eaton out for at least a couple of months, Adams will start in left.  Reynolds will get a few starts at first.  It's not great having two first basemen who are righty hitters, but it will have to do.

Whenever someone complains about Rizzo because of a trade, I think of moves like Reynolds.  He was one of quite a few guys who were left in the free agent deep freeze this year.  Rizzo signs him for peanuts, stashes him at AAA for a couple of weeks, and then he's an instant starter when someone gets hurt.  Signings of guys like Reynolds, trades for guys like Kendricks, Rizzo has been making quiet moves like this for years.  It's a talent.

This should be the post of the year.  So true - then compare the Nats front office to moves like the Mets have made with Matt Harvey.  First ruining his arm, then letting him go to the Reds.  Harvey looked good this week, even with the limit on his pitch count.

when zimmerman comes back RZ should occupy the spot on the bench in charge of sunflower seeds

It was nice to see Reynolds come through last night. But he has a career batting average of .237. And strikes out 192 times over a 162 game schedule.  His OPS went up the last couple years in the thin air of Colorado but for his career it's still below .800. Maybe he has found something the last year or so and he can help going forward.

If you had the eSPN sound on you would have heard he has  changed his approach some what. i would rather have his 237 than the faces 185

Luckily I don't listen to ESPN. Like I said I am hopeful he has found something. He had good stats last year but it was Colorado.

.237 is career of course so not really comparable to Zimm's numbers for this year. I think they would give you about the same production offensively this year. And poor fielding. Would rather see Adams and then Murphy some when he comes back.

BTW, Reynolds was hitting .231 in Syracuse with a .619 OPS. Not exactly tearing it up.

I'm no Zimm fan by any means, but let's at least get his BA right...he's currently at .217.

About the same as MAT is on pace for this year...

MAT has 3 dongs in 42 games (145 AB's)...Reynolds has 2 in 1...

Launch angle.

To take the joke post a little too seriously, Reynolds has always dropped his back shoulder when swinging, which is a pretty good way to hit the ball in the air consistently while also swinging and missing a lot.

I think I heard the line on the broadcast from him about how he and Adam Dunn were all launch angle and strike outs before it was cool.

Well. Yea. That's why we are worried about MAT. Can't sustain that unless you are a big slugger.

Rizzo has done well with his late bargain bin signings the past few years.  Last year Lind somehow didn't have a job, and we scooped him up and he raked.  This year we get Hellickson and Reynolds, both to whom we owe multiple wins between them.

Yea, Adams wasn't as late obviously but still a great find after the big free agency moves were made across the league.

I heard Rizzo made the Adams offer to Lind and he turned it down? Is this true? If it is then he is dumb.

As a platoon/bench player I'll take high power with high strikeouts. I mean, most guys at that spot will get out in the same % of time anyway more or less, at least with Reynolds you have a chance at stealing games with instant power.

He's also a hell of a guy to have in the clubhouse.

you guys are forgetting that Reynolds has played
some LF in his latter years so expect him to platoon with Adams out there when Zim gets back and you will see Stevenson come in as a late D sub.

I would think that Stevenson is odd man out once anybody comes back from the DL...
