Yes, percent chance of precipitation has dropped steadily to where it doesn't exceed 50% until 10.  So I think it will start on time with the hope of getting five innings in.  I doubt they will get nine innings in without a significant delay.

Agreed. It looks like it will be at least 8:00 before the chances of rain go up.

Isn't the forecast thundershowers?  They will get the game in. Especially with more rain forecast tomorrow.
Already predicted they would get the game in earlier today.  I am seeing now t-storms around 9. So could be a long night at the old ballpark.

At least the subway will be open an hour later because of the Caps' game.

The new weather policy has the 6th inning as the decision point...the 5th concluded, but there wasn't a pitch thrown in the 6th, so officially the 6th hasn't happened.  Curious how this plays out from the Nats weather policy perspective.

From the Nats page:
If a game is postponed due to weather, any ticket purchased through nationals.com may be exchanged for a future game - whether you attended the game or not

*New for 2018* - If a game is delayed prior to the sixth inning for more than an hour due to weather, fans attending the game may exchange tickets purchased through nationals.com for a future game at the Nationals Park Box Office on the night of the game

*New for 2018* - If a game is delayed prior to the start of the the sixth inning for more than an hour due to weather, fans who did not attend the game may exchange tickets purchased through nationals.com for a future game, from a select list of available games

No one is staying late for that game.

I wasn't listening close enough and didn't realize the Yankees batted in the top of the 6th, so the Nats win this one.  :)

So this policy talks about tickets purchased through Nationals.com, but I assume this also applies to season plan holders, right?

Then there's the issue about if you attended the game or not.  Sounds like if you are at the game, you have to exchange the ticket that night at the box office.  Are they really going to have the staffing for that?  And if you aren't at the game you can do the exchange online, but only for a "select list of available games".  Perhaps I'm reading this wrong.  I just can't imagine that the box office will stay open and have enough staff after a long rain delay to handle all the exchanges that night.

Interesting that tonight's tickets are done and tomorrow tickets are good for both the regularly scheduled game and the resumption of tonight's game at 5:05.  Will there be a break in between?

All good questions.  Don't know if anyone knows the answers yet since enforencement hasn't been required this season.

Specifically for tonight i don't think it matters since the 6th inning started (delay started mid-6th).  The tickets for tonight are done-ski.  Their Twitter clearly says a wed game ticket is required to attend for when it is scheduled to resume at 5:05.

I think it means:

- anyone can exchange online
- if you went to the game, you can also exchange in person that night
- if you didn’t go, you get fewer choices than if you had gone

SPH should be able to exchange them, just like regular exchanges, on mytickets portal, but if memory serves me, it takes a day or two for them to show back up in inventory.

But that’s all assuming a suspended game is handled the same as a delayed game. If either team had had a lead, then the game would be over now.

Good luck getting tonight's quasi-doubleheader in this afternoon/evening - weather.com has at least 65% chance of rain from 14.00 (three hours before first pitch) through the rest of the evening. Only consolation is at least they aren't calling for thundershowers.

That might actually be worse. Tstorms move in and out. Will it be a steady rain.

If either team had had a lead, then the game would be over now.
The game went five and a half inning. If the Yankees had scored in the top of the sixth, then, because the Nat did not have a chance to bat in the bottom of the six the top of the sixth would have been wiped out , it would have reverted to the top of the sixth, and it would still be tied.

Either that, or they would have resumed the game with the Yankees leading.  I'm not sure which.

But the visiting team cannot win a game in which they score the winning run in the top of  last inning and the home team does not get to bat in the bottom of that inning.

The report basically called for an on-again-off-again rain (looking out my office window overlooking 3rd and D right now it does not appear to be raining).

That's what I thought - but Charley & Dave made it sound like MLB gives the visiting team a new benefit

Rule 7.02(a)(5) (for what constitutes an official game)

Weather, if a regulation game is called while an inning
is in progress and before the inning is completed, and
the visiting team has scored one or more runs to take
the lead, and the home team has not retaken the lead;

So last night's game was called after the top of the 6th. If the Yankees had scored one run in the 6th to make it 4-3 Yankees, the game would still have been suspended because the Nats didn't have a chance to retake the lead. If the Yanks had been up, say 4-3, before the 6th inning started, it would have been an official game.

So the re-start of game 1 is in the hands of the umpires...

Be interesting to see how they handle things as opposed to the Nats organization...

We need the end of that sentence to know what the rule says.
