At this point, I'd rather have Doolittle back than Strasburg.

The aggravating thing is, by September this bullpen could be very good, but it would be too late.  Solis, Grace, Miller, Madson and Suero all have done their jobs for the most part in recent weeks.  Glover and Holland are wild cards.  And there's the possibility that Ross could be available.

Okay, we can not bring Solis

Herrera to 10 day DL with rotator cuff inflammation. Koda Glover up.

I wanna like Koda J. Glover.    Hope he gets a shot and does well.

I don't think Herrera is around next season.

He really looks to me like the antithesis of a confident reliever. I think he's surprised himself when he gets an out these days.

I wonder how long his shoulder has bothered him

That pitch was a ball when it left his hand.

I believe that's for the better.  If he threw a chinchilla at the batter, PETA would probably get even more upset.  If he threw a subpoena at the batter, half the flaccid-faced fans there hitting on their employees would race onto the field to try to snag a new client.

Also, wrong thread?

Like Blake Treinen, Sammy has "good stuff".  Treinen blossomed into an elite back end guy.  Sammy is showing no such signs.  He is Mr. Inconsistency.  He's one of the reasons this team is hovering around .500.  At some point you stop rooting for him.

Other than Doolittle (when healthy), I don't have a good feeling when I see any of our relievers take the mound.

They are in a deadlocked playoff race.

But it is Oakland. Does anyone there care?

Wouldn't Jeremy Hellickson be a very valuable guy in the pen as a multi-inning guy? In the new world of how pitchers are used, seems like he would be more valuable there than as a two-times-through-the-order starter.  We sure could have used that kind of reliever this season.

Vernon...I had this very thought just last night.  I think he'd be perfect in that role...

I think Matt Grace could be used in that role as well as Hellickson.

Agreed, but you'd likely want to watch the match-ups...he seems to be much better against lefties...

Do you realize that only two of the throwers now in the bullpen were on the OD roster? And they have been back and forth to Syracuse and the DL like a Long Island commuter going into Manhattan for work.

You're probably right. At least his stats back you up. I would like both a righty and a lefty.

he'd probably balk at the suggestion and if he failed people will say they "ruined" him.

On the contrary, lefties hit 34 points higher and have an OBP 39 points higher than righties against him, although righties have a higher slugging and OPS.

Look at his ERA splits...

That's this season. His career shows a entirely different story. Until he can repeat his 2018 splits consistently, I'll trust his career numbers.
