I see 3 solid starting talents there assuming Robles to be ready in 2019, and 2 4th OF types in MAT and Goodwin. I'm not sure what excess we'd be trading from if Harper walks. MAT/Goodwin aren't really good enough to start ideally, and neither is fetching a solid SP.

Soto/Taylor/Eaton, all under team control through 2020, with Goodwin and Stevenson filling in as extra outfielders.

Robles gets you Gio or Murphy's replacement.

You want to trade 6 years control of one of the top couple of prospects in all of baseball for a #3 starter? Cole and Norris weren't nearly the same haul when we originally traded for the young and in his prime Gio. Why not just SIGN a free agent, or resign Gio himself?

The free agent pitchers are pretty much crap this offseason. I want to trade for the Gio we got in 2012. Pirates sold low on Cole. I'd want a James Paxton or Luis Severino type.

If you're getting a Cole/Severino, then maybe. Paxton is a beast, but I wouldn't trade Robles for him. He has yet to have a full season. What trade partner is there wanting to deal a stud starter?

Slate last year wanted to trade Soto for Herrera so there's that. I would hold off like you said and try for Corbin or Morton this offseason if Bryce leaves.

A couple years of reasonable control for a #3 pitcher isn't worth dealing a top-5 prospect in baseball. No way. Remember, Robles is supposed to be an even better prospect than Soto. If you don't want to have to replace Gio, just resign him. Easy. He's a soft tossing lefty who has been very durable. He should age well.

Not really. He had the one blowup vs. the Mets in April, but other than that, until about two weeks ago, he'd been pretty solid.

He's 37 and has been used heavily early in the season. I think the Nats lack of middle relievers has put too much of a burden on the back end. We need to grab a middle reliever that can go 2-3 innings to rest other guys but still pitch the 7th or 8th if needed to rest The Lawfirm. Matt Albers was that guy for us last season.

I think we should trade for Craig Stammen.

We haven't had many "top" bullpen arms. Doo has been great. Kintzler has been fine. Madson is old.

Herrera and Melancon have not stunk here. No one else you mentioned should be considered a top bullpen arm
