I'm on the phone with my ISP. I'm getting fake sports news sites today. Every site I visit tells me the Blue Jays beat the Braves. Tech support is looking into it, they say that can't be right, something must be wonky. They think maybe I was hacked

At some point, the Braves will go on a terrible cold spell. It happens to every team every season. I don't think they've had one yet but its not like I follow them that much. The key is, can we take advantage?

Remember in 2014 we chased the Braves the entire first half of the year. Then in July-ish they went cold, we got hot, and I think we won the divison by double digit games.

You play 162 games for a reason. The cream eventually rises to the top.

Anibal Sanchez has a sub 2.5 ERA. they have 3 young pitchers only 1 has even thrown over 150 innings in a season and that was last year with Folty. its coming unless they trade for some starting pitching help.

Nick Markakis is already tapering off. Albies has been cooling since the end of April and is hitting .153/.187/.333 this month. Just a matter of time before the pitching regresses and we catch them. Then pass them. Then win the World Series.

i mean if they pitch this well all season then its the greatest miracle story of all time but even the 2005 Nats had a streak this long till it caught up with them. Rookie pitchers late into a season are not a good bet and 2 of them have been their best in Newcomb and Sirorka. Sanchez has been a 5+ ERA pitcher the last 4 years. McCarthy hasnt even been good for them and he is who I would trust most. They need like 2 Vet starters.

They've been effectively operating with a 6 man rotation, and Snitker is a minor league manager who has been placing his young SPs on the DL for as little as muscle soreness, I wouldn't count on their young arms tiring out, they may not pitch consistently but it won't be because they are tired. As far as Sanchez goes, they don't have to rely on him, they've got Gohara already up waiting for his shot, and Allard in the wings, their weakpoint is their bullpen, they weren't supposed to contend this year and did not staff it properly and for some reason they haven't made any changes since the start of the season...it could be their downfall, it has already cost them at least a half dozen games if not more.

And with Dave Martinez managing poorly, I don't see that happening. Overworking the starting staff has taken its toll. We have a 19-year old (appropriately) batting clean-up, and monster line-up holes in Harper and Murphy. What a revoltin' development.

If Foltynewicz and Newcomb are healthy, they are aren't that far off Scherzer and Strasburg in terms of a 1-2 combination. Especially against the Nats weak-scoring lineup.

I don't want to exaggerate things, but this weekend is pretty worrisome. On paper, Roark was our most trustworthy starter for this series, and the Barves have Baltimore for two more. We could easily be 5 games out on the morning of 6/26. 5 games is always a significant lead.

I can't tell for sure but it looks to me like he might have beaten the throw if not for slowing down to throw his helmet.
