I started not liking him last year. Something is off with this team, the "no balls" or whatever, and I feel he may be part of the problem. It's subjective and I'm allowed to feel that way, so you all can take your geeky stats and shove 'em :mg:

I like the way you think.     :)

And we are about to get caught in the wild card standings by the red-hot Dodgers.

Team was blind to start losing more games on the road. They need to pick it up at home starting this next home stand. 8 games in seven days. They will get it started with a win today.

I don't think we'll overtake the Braves until August at the earliest.

Just needs to be on or before Sept. 30.

I will admit that, when we moved into first I think just before the Braves series, I did not think we were going to fall back 3+ games again.  We had a terrific may, then poof.

AJ Ramos will have surgery to repair a torn labrum and will miss the rest of the year.

Apparently the Mets took notes from the 2012 Braves on pitcher care and conditioning

Meanwhile the Braves pounded Toronto last night. The same Toronto team that slapped us around all weekend.

Atlanta is in good this year -- maybe they have actually put it all together.  But the Nats are going to blow past them in August-September, and then maybe we'll give them credit for having some balls.  The Tony two-bags I saw last night (went to my second game of the season) looked pretty ballsy.

I've been hearing this all season. At some point we've got to wrap our heads around the fact that they'll be hanging around all year.

I say August-September because I think that's when we will finally be relatively healthy with the key players having had enough time to recover their skills.  It's a miracle in some ways that we are as close as we are to the Braves with the minor-league lineups we've had to put out on the field.  The one thing that was keeping us in contention was starting pitching, and then, just as the injured players started returning, we lose two-fifths of our starting rotation.

I don't expect us to have everyone back performing at 100% at any point this season, but I do expect it to be a more reasonable injury list.  When we played Atlanta at the start of this month, I looked at their injured list vs.  ours -- it was ridiculous.  It still is, though the discrepancy is not quite as huge.

Let's see how it goes if and when that evens out.  Of course, there are those on this site who believe that will never happen because ...Lerners.

(BTW, I don't like to second-guess Rizzo, realizing he knows baseball and I don't.  But I do wish he would come up with a catcher who had just mediocre batting skills.)

There's no guarantee the Nats will do that.

We're not through the year, so it also remains to be seen if they'll be able to sustain it to the end. So far, they've shown more than capable.
