Mets’ Juan Lagares out for the season. per Mets beat writer Tim Healey:

Quote
Breaking: Juan Lagares will have foot surgery next week and likely miss the rest of the season, the Mets announce.

Lagares has a hyperextended left big toe. An MRI revealed a complete tear of the big toe plantar plate, which is a thick supporting ligament of the toe.

That made my toe hurt just reading it.

Some...but all three outfielders hit left-handed. Next-up OF's in the system: Mat DenDekker (!!) and a stranger who hits RH.

However, deGrom is pitching like an all-star. Fifth inning and no runs. Has about 24 consecutive scoreless innings.

He had a hyperextended elbow 2 weeks ago. His arm will fall off some time before August because that is part of the Mets experience.

deGrom pitched seven innings, one earned run, 13 K's. Looked good, especially for someone who had not pitched more than a few innings over the last three or so weeks.

Seriously though, look...  No Murphy, Eaton, Zimmerman (to speak of), Taylor thoroughly sucking extreme cow patties, Harper hitting .230, bullpen regressing impressively since last year.   It's a miracle we're only a couple of games out of first place.  When bullpen improves and all our injured guys come back, we should be alright, no?

Batting .120 in his last 12 games. Vote for Difo.

Braves scored 6 in the 9th to win today. They don't quit. They're for real. And we're in real trouble.

They have a fearsome line up and our pitching has dropped  to their level. Yup trouble

There is no way they sustain .600 ball the whole season. They'll drop off eventually, it just might not be until after the ASB.

To put it in perspective, they're currently outpacing the 2017 Astros and on par with the 2017 Dodgers in terms of wining percentage, and the 2018 Braves simply do not have the talent to sustain that pace.

The key to treating gout is to first get it diagnosed.  Gout is a form of arthritis so you want to see a rheumatologist.  You'll need a referral from your primary physician, so go there first.   The rheumatologist will test your blood for uric acid level. If you really have gout, the level will be high, and that's usually sufficient evidence of gout.  Once diagnosed, the doctor will prescribe allopurinol.  It's fairly effective, doesn't work for everyone but it works for me. Once it started working (after no attacks for a couple months) I gradually resumed my levels of alcohol, red meat, and all the other things associated with gout.  That was ten years ago, I'm back to my previous levels of those bad things and still haven't had an attack, not one, in ten years.

Oh and bye the way ... back then (10 years ago) you would take both Allopurinol and Colchicine. You needed both, or so they thought. But about 8 years ago someone slapped a patend on colchicine, and it became prohibitively expensive (what had been $3 for 30 days became $200).  So I simply stopped the colchicine.  No problems.

I just did a quick lookup of side effects of allopurinol.  I haven't had any.  I do get my liver tested regularly and its good.  (My primary physician insists on the liver test, because she thinks I drink too much alcohol.)
