And of course the Mets won today. For the first time they have their starting rotation at full strength.

Some how I doubt the Mets even make it to the all star break with both syndergaard and Harvey Healthy

the entire belief that the NL east would be horrible in 2018 besides us assumed the mets' rotation would be injured and/or suck. they look good so far. their lineup is TBD to me.

Looking at the standings at this point is goofy.

I never thought the Nats season would be over on April 12th, but here we are.

I get the feeling they don't play like they expect to won. Now I don't either.
Don't nobody say it's early as if that is an excuse to suk. The two east rivals who have had ed it to the Nats so far don't  say that

2 rivals? Atlanta vs us is 3-3? How is that handing it to us? Last year we won the series 10-9 and won by 20 games thats why we are saying it sounds silly.

5 games back in the loss column. By Boswell's formula, it'll take 5 weeks to draw even, even if we start playing better. Says we are one good righty away from the bullpen we need. ??

We really need Murphy's clutch bat back in the lineup, but on his timetable. Was Eaton rushed back too soon?

If the Mets keep winning 9 out every 10 games I think Boswell's formula disintegrates.

The Mets currently have a horseshoe shoved up their butts. It will fall out, we will tighten up our own game,  and we will gain ground. The most important thing we can do is try to sweep them in their house, which is always difficult, but seeing the combination of DeGrom, Wheeler and Matz is encouraging for at least a split.

Keep in mind that the Marlins' rookie carried a no-hitter against the Mets into the 7th and was only removed because he was on a pitch count. I believe it was his first major league start and he rocked a 4.73 ERA over 50 innings in the Marlins trashfire bullpen last year.  And he no-hit the Mets last night through 7 innings on something like 77 pitches.

If Suero is healthy by the All Star Break, he's got some pretty nasty stuff and the right demeanor.

Was Eaton rushed back too soon?

Honestly it can take up to 2 years for some of these bone injuries to heal, so it's tricky to balance the risk of re-injury/aggravation of the old injury with the player's need to get back on the field and back into the routine.

No one is there to tell them they need to win 15 games a month, that's the real problem.  8)

All around the Mets and Braves are playing much better than the Nats in all phases of the game. The Mets swept this team in their opening home series. If they struggle against the Phillis, which I suspect they will, watch out. Can't pitch Stras and Max every game and Rendon and Eaton can't take all the bats

The big projection systems still have the Nats as winning the NL East, despite the Mets' start. The season is long. Short stretches do not change what a team fundamentally is.

I get the feeling that lots of folks here don't really understand "it's early".  Some do, but those who complain about others saying it's early don't.

"It's early" simply means there is way to small a sample size to base any predictions on.  Preseason predictions are fun.  But predictions based on the results of  ten games are ridiculous.

Anyway "it's early" does NOT mean it's ok not to play to win now because we can turn it on later and make up for the early losses.

We have played literally 8% of the season, there is still 92% left. if a 6-6 stretch happens in July up by 6 games you hardly notice.

If both the Mets and Nats starting staffs are healthy, which one do you want? Looking for an objective answer, unfiltered by red, white and blue shades.

Of course you want the Mets. But this turn in the rotation is literally the first time all 5 have pitched in one turn together. Health matters.

Look at their lineup, they all have injury history. they had their first 1 yesterday with D'rNaud probably out for the year with a UCL tear. More are coming. I doubt they all stay healthy.

Adrian Gonzalez people wondered if he would ever play again, Cabrera is playing on a bad hammy now and Cespedes is always one bad run away from popping a hammy.
