5 games back in the loss column.
The Mets currently have a horseshoe shoved up their butts. It will fall out, we will tighten up our own game, and we will gain ground. The most important thing we can do is try to sweep them in their house, which is always difficult, but seeing the combination of DeGrom, Wheeler and Matz is encouraging for at least a split.
Keep in mind that the Marlins' rookie carried a no-hitter against the Mets into the 7th and was only removed because he was on a pitch count. I believe it was his first major league start and he rocked a 4.73 ERA over 50 innings in the Marlins trashfire bullpen last year. And he no-hit the Mets last night through 7 innings on something like 77 pitches.
Says we are one good righty away from the bullpen we need. ??
If Suero is healthy by the All Star Break, he's got some pretty nasty stuff and the right demeanor.
Was Eaton rushed back too soon?
Honestly it can take up to 2 years for some of these bone injuries to heal, so it's tricky to balance the risk of re-injury/aggravation of the old injury with the player's need to get back on the field and back into the routine.
