Saw Kansas Friday night at the Taft Theatre here in Cincinnati. One of my favorites back in the day. Only two original members. Phil Ehart on drums is just tremendous and Richard Williams on guitar are also outstanding. The guy on violin was also great--believe he has been with the band on and off since the 1990s. Ronny Platt on lead vocals is a more recent addition. He was good but not quite Steve Walsh. All in all they had the Kansas sound down very good.
They played for two and a half hours. Started with a short acoustic set and then followed with a mix of songs. Highlights for me were The Wall, Song for America and Miracles Out of Nowhere. Then they played the entire Point of Know Return Album on its 40th anniversary--has been years since I had heard some of those tunes. Kind of wished I had seen the Leftoverture tour last year as I preferred than album. Encore was Carry on Wayward Son. A good evening. Snow flurries greeted us as we got outside after the show.
