in reading the Balin obit, of course he got annoyed when folks only could think of Grace as the voice of the band.  people would come up to him when he'd sing one of his songs and insist it was sung by Grace.  apparently, he would play with Jorma and Jack as well as the woman who sang on the first album in later years.

Without Grace, Balin's obit wouldn't have been in the Post.      :stir:

It would have been a Miracle, but I would have Volunteered to write it.

Just ask Alice, I think she'll know.

Wait, didn’t he sing “Miracles”?? Or was that Paul Kantner? It sure wasn’t Grace

here's a 12 minute compilation clip of Styx drummer Todd Sucherman during one of their recent shows, with highlights of 20 songs.  The guy can play.

https://www.facebook.com/128960850471267/videos/338503106921376/UzpfSTg4Nzc2MjA0MTI5OjEwMTU2MjE0Mzk2MDM0MTMw/

IIRC, he was a drummer in a Styx cover band who stepped in after John Panozzo became ill (and later died).  It's amazing to think that some of these guys have now been in the band for longer than the originals.

In terms of influencing what came later, MC5 should be a slam dunk.

Roxy Music probably gets in for that too, at least on the strength of Eno's influence.

On that same token, another ridiculous omission in Mick Jones and Foreigner.

One of the worst songs in the history of recorded music.    Hell, it's even worse than "The Eggplant That Ate Chicago".

I never hated it. We had an English teacher that used it in our class freshman year of high school. To keep our attention. Didn’t work. The key is that writing  and singing it got Don a chick one third his age.
