I thought on the throw to second by Kieboom in the first inning that Bryce was slow to back up the play. Not sure they would have had Gardner at third but it fits the profile.

Wait until Bryce actually leaves. We will be cataloging all these miscues to run out next year when we say we don't miss him. 😂

If Harper leaves, he is guaranteed at least a couple big seasons. And he will continue to jack homers nonstop and do some ridiculous things at the plate.

We'll just have to be calm, look at whatever contract he signs, and then nod knowingly when he has a season where he struggles to get to .240 while continuing a career of not producing half as much on the base paths or in the field as he should.

I am at peace with Harper moving on. Good player, maybe a great hitter, not worth the biggest contract ever.

Same. I think he's a very good player but I don't think he's in the discussion for best player in baseball at the moment. Better players have gotten big deals and haven't won. He's not as good as prime Bonds or Arod.

Let him walk. Use that money to extend Rendon, get a new 1B, C, and 2B.

Not even top 10.

Running out ground balls doesn't really bother me, but consistently throwing to the wrong bases and allowing runners to advance makes me crazy.

He is #33 in fWAR since the start of the 2016 season. Add in his big 2015? #9.

And if you just went with 2018 are we talking triple digits?

Bumping this back up. I would have bet a lot of money that Bryce was top 10 in WAR over past three seasons. Would have put my life saving if you even gave me top 20.

#33? Would never have guessed.

Who'd you rather have up in a clutch situation based on their play here in DC? Harper, Dunn or LaRoche? Okay, add in Morse and Soriano too.

Murphy? Maybe Soto? Of that crew, I'd take Harper. Despite perception folks have, his OBP numbers with runners on are far better than with empty bags.

Quote
Major League Baseball people are concerned about a potentially depleted Home Run Derby field this year, and would love Bryce Harper to participate in the All-Star event, which is in Washington next month.

But Harper has only once taken part in the event, and it may something of be a long shot – no pun intended. Sources say MLB has reached out to Harper about participating in the derby, but word is they have yet to put any pressure on him; Harper hasn’t committed one way or another, and he is said not to have made up his mind.

What an ass hole. He said he'd do the Derby at Nats Park, do the damn Derby at Nats Park. Why jerk MLB and the team around? I'm sure that Boras will get his client in line, but if Harper does burn the Lerners on this he's gone in August.
