So Paps can't pitch more than two in a row.

we seem to either have closers who are mentally strong with subpar stuff or with good stuff but mentally weak. I would still rather have a guy with lesser stuff that doesn't  melt. But I would sure like one of our other relievers with better stuff to grow a pair and take the job.

Felipe seem to have the stuff and not be mental midget, do you think he's ready for it?

This is on the lead clown Rizzo.

There are lots of goats in this loss.

eh the offense started slow again but 6 runs should be enough to win against a struggling offense like the Royals. This one is on Papelbon squarely imo.

Rizzo needed to see that Papsmearbum is an over-the-hill pack mule that needed to be put down. Instead, Rizzo blew it and kept him and now we're seeing what the vast majority of Nats fans expected to see: Papsmearbum blowing saves and giving up sure wins. Rizzo didn't have the foresight to see what everyone else saw would happen.

When you have a closer with not great stuff, I never like letting them pitch to the same batters in the same series, especially on back to back days.

Kimbrel's blown a couple big time already for the Sox.

He had 'em on the high fast ball and he talked Ramos into the cutter.    Uncle Ray caught the point.

First of all, Dusty left Roark in too long.  Then Papelbon blew it.  What a pity after the Nats played beautifully.

I'd like to see Rivero close. The problem then is what do you do with Papeldouche? Once you demote a closer they're kinda stuck in that no man's land and its not like you're any more confident in his stuff as a middle reliever.

Roark was cruising through 7. I think he was pulled at the perfect time. You get 6 runs and are up 2 going into the 9th you expect to win. But that's baseball.

I think with he and Treinen that they think they have who has the stuff. As far as I can tell, Felipe is the only guy who has the mentality to pull it off. Treinen cant throw strikes at will. But lefty closers are rare. Assuming Treinen is another Jason Bergman, the current crop points to someone like Petit.

MLB radio today reported that based on Cashman's statement---Chapman and Miller are or will be available.
