Good play by Espi.  I'll never understand why players slide into first.

There goes the "quality start"

6 innings and 3 runs or less.  No stat for 4 runs in 7.1 innings.  My god, Slate, you of all people should know that...keeper of the useless stats such as you are...

A quality start cannot be awarded if the pitcher is charged with 4+ runs no matter how many innings he pitched. So Slate is correct.

That Werth homer looming large now. Gives Pap a little bit of a cushion.

Harper is the 2 girls 1 cup of this team right now. He better get right before Arrieta. Maybe he should sit tomorrow.

Last week, I saw a runner successfully slide into first to avoid a tag by the fielder on an infield hit. Every other slide into first is moronic.

Except, that's not how it works. His start is views as 7.1 innings with 4 earned runs. In order for it to be a QS, it has to be at least six innings with 3 earned runs or fewer. Tanner does not earn a quality start for tonight's performance.

Harps just isnt seeing the ball well. Hes swinging at trash and not taking pitches the way he was earlier this year. Give him a day off tomorrow to let him restart his engines.

Harper is lost.  Good thing the rest of the lineup got their heads out of their asses.

No crotch grab from Papelbon tonight, uh oh

Naw, he does this. He start swinging well. Then he goes to the DL for weeks at a time. Then he comes back and struggles for his first 100 PAs. Then he's locked in and the whole cycle repeats.

Duly noted...

...it's a dumb, made-up stat anyway...
