He was off yesterday and we're fighting for home field advantage. No reason he wouldn't be playing.
He has played so many games. Should have had three or four days off in a row. His being in the lineup is so much more important than home field advantage it's not funny. There basically is no home field advantage.

Yea. Next year.

When is the next time Zimm plans to make a bad throw home?

Or the next game, when running to first. Ramos' knee was a ticking time bomb.

What just happened would have downed many his size.

Oh, no doubt. What I'm saying is that it wasn't the jump, nor the weather, nor anything that anyone could control. That knee was already weakened and all it took was the full weight of him coming down.

Yup. Just horrible luck.

Did you stay at a holiday inn express last night?  Knee injuries don't really happen that way. All it takes is one awkward move.

I wish the nats had hired Wotus or Martinez. Heck I'd even take DeRosa. I've never liked dusty's managing in the playoffs. Always a great regular season manager that gets you there, but is either the most unlucky post season manager or the dumbest. Dusty has blown multiple playoff series leads up by 2 games.

But the vetting process of a half a day or so after low balling Bud Black surely factored in that consideration.

hey, he fired all his bullets off the long bench tonight.  He PH'd for Espinosa rather than let him face a righty.  I'm not sure I liked sliding Harper up to 2d, but if any of you would have moved RZ up into the top 5 before last night, you forgot to post it.  I'd be amazed if he benched Espinosa for Difo at this point against Hill, but I'm sure if he did and it did not work, folks would call it panicking.

He did nothing wrong. I'm pretty sure it's against the rules to pick up a bat and hit with runners in scoring position when you're the manager.

Only after he'd squandered all our chances to score. 6 freaking LOB.

The only person who's going to be upset with yanking Espinosa out of the lineup regardless of whether it works is Slateman. I'm not looking forward to hoping I live to next October when you still have a chance to improve the team by sitting his ass on the bench right now.

Believe it or not Slate is just being contrarian to be contrarian. There is a bigger Espinosa fluffer than Slate.

I'm starting to doubt that first part. Which alien is a bigger Danny cumbucket?

I'm glad that the minor defensive gaffe by turner in cf did not matter or I'd be really ripping dusty today. Even if it looks like a panic move, I'd still put turner at short where he belongs and MAT at cf. You're going to have one weak bat with either danny or MAT, but at least players are playing their normal positions. I really don't want to see turner getting bashed if he blows a play in the outfield like how rangers fans got on desi. But if it happens, the first person I'm ripping is dusty since it should have never been done.

No, not really. I've said all along that Espinosa should start because the Nationals didn't have a better option. Well they do now. Espinosa is hitting .135/.212/.281 over the last month. Pretty sure Michael Taylor or Stephen Drew or Wilmer Difo or Ben Revere or some random freak from the stands can hit better than that. His defense, while good, doesn't make up for that. So he needs to be benched and utilized as a utility infielder, while someone who can actually hit their weight takes the bulk of the reps.

As much as I hate Turner in CF and should be playing SS, Difo playing SS would probably be the most logical move if Dusty wanted to bench Danny's sorry ass. Turner, while a natural SS, has only had one game at short this season.

It pisses me off that Turner did not get more games at short. Danny has been struggling for months, yet kept him there. And only now, the masses are questioning Danny at short because he had such a brutal game and if he had just one hit, the nats would have won the game. I told everyone this from the ending of spring training and kept saying it even when Turner got called up. It gives me little satisfaction to be right because seeing the nats in this situation where I can see them not advancing makes me depressed.

This is on dusty and whoever made the decision to play Turner at CF. I'm pretty sure that Rizzo is more to blame than Dusty for the retarded decision to play Turner at CF. Turner has not been good defensively by my standards. I played D1 ball at a top 16 school and any of the outfielders I played with never made the mistakes that Turner makes. Outfield is not a position you can just throw anyone at and they can play at a high standard. Look at the BoSox Indians series or Pillar of the Jays. Those players are making tough plays that Turner just cannot make and while it has not cost the nats a playoff win yet, it could happen.
