Really sort of tired of Nats fan shaming. freak it. We are what we are. We'll get better with time. Until then, stop worrying about us.

Want more enthusiastic fans? Lower beer prices to $7.

You want more enthusiastic fans? Kick ass and win in the playoffs.

When in your franchise's history you've consistently been awful and your recent change of direction towards winning has included some painful postseason you get beat down crowds. Dusty Baker should have seen this team a few years ago. The crowds today are significantly better.

Wizards games are depressing because they're pretty consistently sad or embarrassing. The Verizon Center is the opposite. Good teams, great atmosphere. Redskin games are slipping but every time there is some hope the stadium gets loud in a hurry.

Nationals on field performance will determine the crowds they get.

Nats fans last week: Dusty is a great manager, he's seen everything and knows the game in and out
Nats fans this week: Dusty doesn't know anything about fans

Rusty isn't happy with the fans...

How to make friends and influence people.     Nats' fans ain't much different than Wizards, 'skins or Caps' fans.     When times are good, they're with ya.    Ask the 'skins' about the Steelers' Monday night game 3 or 4 years ago.   Ask the Caps about the Penguins, Flyers or Rangers fans.     Ask the Wizards about when Kobie or LeBron come to town.    Nats fans aren't much different than the folks who go to the Kennedy Center or Arena Stage.    They come late and leave early.    Build it (contender) and they will come.

I think Dusty Baker is pretty darn smart. I think our baseball fans are pretty low key compared to most. If he wants to win a playoff series this season then let's check back next year. I also think 10 years from now the fans will be a lot better. Just takes time. I have only been going to games since 2010 and I can see the consistent improvement.

I think y'all are being a bit sensitive, he's just talking about his experiences at other parks and basically letting fans know they can sometimes actually have a positive effect on the team?

I agree. And he was asked his opinion. I just think people crap on Nats fans when it's a relatively new franchise that has done a whole lot more losing than winning. The fans will get up when games matter. They'll definitely get up if Baker can win in October.

And another thing is I've been to White Sox, Royals, Mariners, and Cubs games. Royals before their WS win. I've never seen any of those fan bases exactly rocking for a regular season game.

He is right though, compared to other fan bases we do seem to lack energy, at least in the regular season. In the playoffs Nats Park is always rocking though. But this is an event down with a largely fairweather fan base, you just aren't going to have fans rocking during home regular season games against the likes of the Reds an Brewers.

I mean, were Royals fans rocking before 2014? Wrigley was a mausoleum until recently as well. List goes on and on. You win, and the fans will rock.

Exactly. As it stands we have fans threatening to abandon the team because they don't meet high expectations.

Ask the 'skins' about the Steelers' Monday night game 3 or 4 years ago.

It was 8 years ago.  Time sure does fly doesn't it?

I've gone to plenty of Dallas games with tons of Redskin fans.

Big stadiums will be susceptible to lots of visiting fans. The Redskins have smartly trimmed a few seats off the top. That, plus a little on field success, adds up to better showings.

Its all about winning.

I remember a Boston Celtics-LA Lakers game when the home fans in Boston were chanting MVP for Kobe. And that was for a franchise that has as much history as any in sports.

Dusty should head to Toronto, where the Blue Jay fans are continental, largely female and
unabashed fanbois/girls. My 90-year-old sister is an example. She is a widow and you'd think she'd be lonely, but don't dare call her during a game. She won't answer. She has the Blue Jays schedule taped to her bathroom mirror so she won't miss an oddly-timed game. She even attends games when her son will take her and is just the kind of fan Dusty would love. Every female I know over the age of 20 is a shirt-wearing, cap carrying Blue Jays fans. Most guys call them the Blue Jokes and follow the Tigers, Orioles or Yankees.
Is this what Dusty wants?

I wouldnt mind if Nats park started being filled by (hopefully single) women who like baseball at all.

Baseball draws the best looking women. Hockey is the exact opposite.

Who the freak cares? If he's up  here, play him. If you're not going to start him, send him down and call up Difo.

This isn't last year where Matt Williams played some bums in front of him in a lost season. The Nationals are in full contention and have some talent up the middle. Danny Espinosa has a lock at short. Murphy may be the NL MVP if he keeps hitting. Stephen Drew is mashing every time he gets a chance. As long as Turner is playing more days than not I'm happy with him up.
