Dusty gets a lot of flack for Prior but if you ask Prior he points to a play on the bases that started his career injury problems nothing Dusty did. He said he and Dusty are friends to this day.

Francona has 2 rings. Dusty has 3 colossal playoff failures on his resume. Blowing 3 different series each with a 2 game advantage is a cause for concern. Maddux and Spier can only give Dusty an opinion. Dusty always goes with his gut and his playoff gut has proven to be brutal.

Sometimes, the players just don't get it done.  But then I recall Davey putting Edwin Jackson in in relief...           :bang:  :wtf: :hammer:  :turrible:  :asplode:

Matt Williams was the one cited for over-warming pitchers.  I hope Dusty doesn't take up that behavior.

He warmed up pitchers several times in one game.

I said I'm "hoping," not "expecting" Dusty has figured that regular season and playoffs need different styles.

Dusty does manage differently in the playoffs as far as past history goes. Instead of guys having a normal leash, Dusty has a quick hook and will put in whoever he's feeling that day. Pray it's not Ollie.

I love Dusty but we can we stop pitching Melanson in non-save situations, already?  We have a 9 game lead with 17 to play, and we have 50 guys crowding the bullpen.  Come on, Man.

Agreed. No reason for non-starter arms to be pitching multiple innings, nor for guys to be pitching consecutive days.

I have no issue with the prospect types like Gott and Glover throwing 2.

At home, I have no issue with Melancon being used in a tie game after the 8th.

Agreed. Hell even in some save situations I wouldn't use him. We have used him a bunch and its starting to show. Let him rest up a bit so he can be fresh going into October.

So the nats have a better chance of winning? No more stupid pinch running for the trail base runner when all you need is the lead runner to score.

That's a pretty freaked up thing to say in the circumstance.

I said it was stupid of him to potentially cost the nats a win with that move and that even matt williams wouldn't do something that dumb and anyone else would give this team a better chance to win in the playoffs last night on twitter. So now it's not ok to say it was stupid because he has a death in the family?

I thought it was a great move - to lessen the chances of a Zim (or Robinson) double play...

Difo f'd up...not Rusty...

I don't know about that.  No matter how fast the runner on first is, the chance of him beating a throw to second on a potential double play are very slim. Now if the plan had been for Difo to steal, different story, but that didn't seem to be the plan.

I wanted Difo running for Murphy.

With one of Zim's 30' dribblers...it would have only left them with one option...

most managers would pitch their closer in that situation.  I don't see any issue here, you throw your best pitcher in a tie game.

How can he get ejected? I don't think he has it in him to get angry. Or even fake it.

Why have Belisle and Petit each only pitched in one game over last month?
