I don't think he's stupid, just out of date and stubborn, like Williams. At least he'll be a better communicator, if his decision making doesn't bury the team.

The real issue here  to me is how all this went down - I'm so over DC Sports Clown Shows - it's tiresome

I'm glad I'm not one of the STH sales reps trying to convince people to sign up or renew.

I'm not even worried about player health, I haven't commented on it once because Prior and Wood were destined to implode. Just look at their mechanics. Dusty probably just quickened the process. I'm just worried about him leaving in a pitcher past their effectiveness.

not really sure who should lead off looking at the roster, probably werth or escobar?

Definitely Werth - he turned his season around after being in the leadoff spot in Colorado. Let him and his walks and long ABs and good BA lead off or hit second and let Harper and Zim handle the power.

Much of the Dusty hate is way overblown - the more I read about him the less I think he'll be awful. Handling prickly clubhouses seems to be a forte, that could be very useful - who knows.

Seems silly to think one shortened quote taken out of context could be a life long meme

I think he was basically saying that guys should be more aggressively trying to drive in runs when there were runners on base,

And as I recall, in the particular case in question, he was referring to middle order guys, where driving in runs IS more important than getting on base, if there are already baserunners.

Stranger things have happened, I guess.

I don't even know what quote you're talking about, my problem with Dusty is he's never gotten it done and he's had three separate teams to do it with-he's had more than enough chances to prove he can manage a team to a championship and quite simply hasn't been able to do it- I wanted a fresh, new face, not the "tried and true, can get us to the playoffs and then lose" manager-we've been there and done that :(

Maybe he's the next Joe Torre?

haha Mitlen said the same, I forget that Torre managed three teams before the Yankees. Well here's hoping for that because apparently we're stuck with him :(

It's not that he's a bad hire. It's that he's not a really good one. Between him and Black, it doesn't matter. But the Nationals needed an update. Yes communication is important. Clubhouse atmosphere is important.

But you know what's also really important? The numbers. The splits. The metrics. And Baker is probably about 40 years out of date. I mean this is the guy who said that he doesn't want guys getting on base and clogging the basepaths!!

Maybe the team does good. Maybe they make the playoffs. But it'll be more of what we've seen in the past.

All Along the Watchtower is such an obvious answer
While a great cover, Hendrix didn't even write it. Voodoo Chile would have been a better choice.

Brewer and Shipley's was the first version I ever heard.

Hendrix is best.
