Oh c'mon BIL - your halo has been off for a few years

I'm flattered you think I ever had one.

Seriously, I never, ever snipe at anyone first. But if someone pokes me, I have a hard time turning the other cheek. (Yeah, I've been working on that one my whole life.) Notice every slapfight I get into here. It follows that exact pattern.

I wish I could get someone to snipe at me like that ...

And what's hysterical is that if you go back just one page and read the posts it was UMD and Knorr that took the shot; but since she's obsessed with me, she tries to get my attention.  :lmao:

And your inability to connect the dots over the course of the past 25 posts reminds me of my nine-year-old kid with Aspergers.

They got nag slapped too. But passive aggressive sniping (e.g., piling on like a 14 year old) will be called out just the same. :hysterical:

You always have to get in the last word. Part of the pattern too. And just like a 14 year old.

Gotta get back to work and listen to the ballgame.

Why Bryce Harper is miscast as a baseball villain

Good read, I wish Math Guy would read things like this and quit being so negative

Bryce Harper is a bad ass and anyone that doesn't see that is a troll, a donk, an idiot, and/or a miserable person. He, along with Trout, McCutchen, Altuve, and Adam Jones, are giving baseball a real shot in the arm.    Just stay healthy and leave the drama to keyboard commandos.

I've never rooted for a player who is so reviled by so many. It's a weird position to be in.

Don't tell that to most of the baseball world! They want everyone to be robots like they were in the good ole' days, except in the good ole' days, players were much crazier.

Everyone knows that players who just speak in cliches and repeat the same bullcrap over and over are good for baseball!

Look at the Cardinals! Everyone loves  them because they keep their mouth shut and just win!*

*They do not do this at all.

You get my point though - a lot of those guys (not Altuve, obviously) could have just as easily been talking into doing basketball or football but chose baseball instead.  There are a lot of great players coming out of the Latin America camps but to keep the sport growing in the US we need players like the ones I mentioned to be ambassadors for kids to consider baseball over other sports if they're trying to try and go pro.

Don't tell that to most of the baseball world! They want everyone to be robots like they were in the good ole' days, except in the good ole' days, players were much crazier.

Obviously.  It's not like Johnny Bench (a flaming assclown if there ever was one) didn't tell guys to get ready for retirement when he came up.  Or how about Frank Thomas swinging a giant piece of rebar and staring down pitchers from the on-deck circle.  And let's leave slapdicks like John Rocker and Vince Coleman out of the discussion.  Less Ryan "Hounddog" Zimmermans and more Bryce Harper and Clayton Kershaw swagger.  Baseball needs to embrace some more personality before it becomes a soulless bore.

Absolutely. The sooner the OWGs accept this, the better.

Absolutely. The sooner the OWGs accept this, the better.

The problem there, unfortunately, is the the OWGs are being replaced with BYWGs (Boring Young White Guys).  Can you think of anything less exciting than looking at the score board and seeing "When Altuve is at 2nd base with two outs there is a RC+ of 0.00841 in an 0-2 count"?  That's why guys like Ron Washington were so great - they really couldn't give a rat's ass about any of that nonsense and, while they often looked like fools after the smoke cleared, they had teams that were competitive and seemed to actually enjoy the sport.  Less narratives and analysis and more kicking ass.  freak it, I might have to order a Harper shirzey today and get a mohawk in solidarity to the Kid.
